I recommend this CD to all musicians. Persichetti's IX is amazing. what wonderous compositional skills he has. David Maslanka is phenominal in his talent. V is yet another example of even more amazement to come from his mind ot the page.
Syler's 'Minton's Playhouse' is wonderous. Zanninelli has talent unknown to most.
Maslanka Strikes Again
I've been a follower of his music since 1989 and nearly all of his works strike a chord of human spirit not evident in many modern wind band works. His fifth symphony is no exception. This disc is a "must have" for educators and music enthusiasts in general. Illinois State should be commended on a tremendous performance of all the music on this CD. It's really top rate all around.

Its an awesome cd that depicts great, musical playing. James Sylers Mintons Playhouse is amazing and the new Maslanka Symphony is truly outrageous.
