Product Description
5" East/West Rachael Ray 'Gusto Grip' knife is our most popular shaped blade because it is the most effective knife available for general slicing and chopping of meats, vegetables and fruits. The blade is a chopper and cooks knife combined: the best of the East and the West! Light, sharp, and perfectly balanced.

Customer Reviews
Somewhat Underwhelmed ...
I bought this knife at Sur la Table as it was conspicuously displayed at the front of the store, and I was badly in need of retail therapy. It was also inexpensive, comfortable and small (I have small hands and the larger knives can be a little awkward).
It has now been through a variety of tasks in the kitchen, and my opinion is it's good but not great. Good for coarse chopping and slicing (which is how Rachael Ray cooks); but if I need paper-thin slices of shallot, a very fine mince, or anything requiring a delicate touch, I'll stick with my Wusthof chef knife and Santoku. Not sure whether this has any significant effect, but the spine on the Furi seems wider than my other knives.
By the way, the blurb on Amazon brags about the knife's construction of "finest CrMoV German stainless-steel alloys" -- fine print on the knife says "made in China".
Went dull REALLY fast
I gave my Mom this knife as a Christmas gift. It was WONDERFUL at first. But now, just over a month later, it won't even cut a lemon. I have no idea if this is standard for knives that need to be sharpened or not. I'm not about to buy a $99 sharpener for it though!
UPDATE
Turned out Mom had a sharpener/honer hidden away in a cabinet. Now with regular honing, this is a great knife. I'm looking at getting a set for her for this Xmas!
WORST knife EVER!!!
DO NOT BUY THESE KNIVES. Wow, I was really disappointed with this knife. Such POOR quality. Brand new and it can't even cut a tomato with force! It's already rusting, and shows rusted spots even though I dried it after washing. Some foods like squash or cucumbers leave strange streaks on the knife that you can not scrub off, no matter how much elbow grease you use. Steel Wool won't remove it, even scraping it with a fingernail will not remove it. I love RR which is why I thought the knife might be something good, but I can't believe she put her name on this or endorses it! I hope my warnings will keep anyone else from making the mistake of purchasing this knife or any of the knives like it. I wish I could get my money back! I'm not usually one to buy something because of the name attached to it and I'll probably not buy anything else with RR's name on it.
