Another Solid Effort From F5
The Reckoning is the second release from F5, the metal group featuring former members of Megadeth (The 'other Dave' Elefson and Jimmy DeGrasso - not that you would know it from listening to them). I'm not sure why they've not made a bigger splash on the metal scene considering the MD alumni. The songwriting is more solid than anything on rock radio right now, the melodies are memorable, and the performances worth repeated listens. The addition of DeGrasso on drums has really taken the musicianship to the next level from their last album "Drug For All Seasons." The rhythm section is tight and brutal, and as with their first release, there's a great cohesion to the album, with each song standing apart, due largely to Dale Steele's excellent ear for vocal hooks.
Not sure why there aren't more reviews here since this has been out for a few months. Amazon's Editorial Reviewer is once again asleep at the wheel because it describes it as a re-issue from some band called the 'blue meanies'. I also had some trouble getting the review page to let me rate the album.
If you're looking for a new metal band that doesn't sound like a Nickelback or Korn clone, these guys are for you.
