The Kreg KLBK Large Bench Klamp System keeps joints flush during screw-driving operations with a modified vise-grip style clamp and a 10 by 10 by 1/4-inch plate. Place the plate on your workbench and attach it with the provided screws, then insert the clamp for a 360 degree pivoting clamping station for all of your pocket hole needs. This clamping system can be used for routing and sanding jobs, and for securing pocket hole tools while you drill pocket holes.

If you like the idea of using our face clamps to keep your joints flush while driving the screws, you'll love the added assembly ease and unlimited flexibility of the Large Bench Klamp. This clamping system includes a 10 x 10 x 1/4 thick steel plate along with a modified Face ClampTM that easily slides in and out of a channel machined into the plate. Simply rout the steel plate into your workbench to make it flush, insert the clamp and you have a 360 degree pivoting clamping station for all of your pocket hole assembly needs. The clamp is then easily removed to leave you with a perfectly flat work surface. This clamping system also works well when helping as a hold-down clamp for routing, sanding and securing our other pocket hole tools (Mini and RocketTM) while drilling your pocket holes.

another overpriced gimmick
Apparently, pocket hole systems are all the rage and Kreg is making a killing by marketing their kits and ancillary gadgets. I can understand why pocket-hole joinery is popular. It is a versatile system that is less intimidating to beginning woodworkers or part-time hobbyists. Pocket hole joints are quick, and can be disassembled. But you would have to be very inexperienced to not see a better solution for work-holding.

This thing is nothing more than a toggle clamp with a metal plate. (Actually, HALF a pair of locking pliers) You have to mount the plate, which requires either building a custom surface, a box-jig or you must rout a mortise into your bench.

OR... You can buy good toggle clamps for less than ten bucks and screw them in place wherever you need them in about one minute. Further, standard toggle clamps are not so invasive. You can easily adjust them or modify simple clamping jigs to suit many specialized purposes, including all those pictured with this sales-pitch..

Having seen this jig in operation, I can attest that it works OK, but no better than a cheap toggle clamp which is MUCH easier to install and uninstall. I can't understand who would buy this thing, even if it were fairly priced. For what they're asking, you could buy enough clamps and lumber to build several really good clamping jigs.
