Kris Torrence wants to experience sexual submission to a man once in her lifetime. Having a reputation for being a sedate, boring professor, nobody at her university job suspects anything when she signs up to work for a five-day excursion at an exclusive gentlemen's resort catering to wealthy men seeking submissive sex slaves. Jack McKenna has been Dr. Kris Torrence's longtime nemesis. When he sees a naked woman walking around the resort whose long, dark red hair reminds him of the uptight professor who will have nothing to do with him, he decides to buy her. When he sees her face for the first time, Jack and Kris will both get the shock of a lifetime... "The Possession is an outstanding example of what a truly romantic erotic romance should be. Rich characterizations, engaging dialogue, and an explosive passion meld together to create a highly entertaining story." - Terrie Figueroa, Romance Reviews Today "This was my first Jaid Black story but I definitely plan on getting others... Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. The Possession is a well written, highly erotic story of 2 people who decide to do something different to shake up their lives and find love along the way." - Diane Mason, Sime~Gen, Inc.

What a let down
The first small part of this book is really hot - then when there is going to be 3 days of servitude - there is nothing - I was VERY disappointed
So-So
I think I must have picked up this title a few years ago and there it sat on my shelf until now.
Good points: There was a plot. There was romance. The characters were likeable. It was a quick read.
so-so points: The sex was rather tame for a story taking place at an "exclusive gentlemen's resort". I didn't much care for the sexual language used...there are ways to write hot, steamy and kinky scenes without overusing less than flattering terms for female sex parts.
The Possession was just ok. I've read better from Jaid Black.
I enjoyed it. It was hard to put down.
I kept wanting them to get together and was happy when they finally did. This is about a female professor, Kris, who wants to be a submissive but has never done it before. Jack is a local businessman with a surly personality. They have known each other for two years and frequently argue. Kris decides to go on a cruise where she will be a submissive to a man for 3 days. Jack happens to go on the same cruise since his friend John runs it. The submissiveness is primarily about being tied up, nothing too violent happens.
CAUTION SPOILER:
Unfortunately, the author used one of my pet peeves, the lovers separate due to vague communication and inaccurate assumptions. They are in love with each other, but he thinks he is not smart enough for her. She thinks she is not beautiful enough for him. At the end of the week, all one of them had to say to the other was "Would you like to get together again?" The other would have said yes. Instead of getting together, they separated, thinking the other didn't want to continue. However, the rest of the story and characters were interesting enough to offset this weakness, so I gave it 4 stars instead of 3.
Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: twelve plus. Setting: present day San Francisco, Calif and Atlantis Island. Copyright: 2002. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.
