Product Description

Whether you love to watch a lover undress in person, relish peeking at the neighbors through a crack in their blinds, love to visit a strip club for a steamy show, or adore reversing the equation by taking center stage, Peep Show packs an erotic punch for voyeurs—and exhibitionists—of any stripe. These sexy stories speak to perhaps the most common sexual predilections: the wish to watch and be watched. While the appeal of a peep show—and of being peeped at—is well documented, rarely has the subject inspired an entire collection. This book corrals several unique stories, each of which explores a different facet of these desires, ensuring that any reader will be titillated.

Introduction: Hungry Eyes and Sensual Show-Offs

When the stories started rolling in for Peep Show, I was surprised to see that so many were about sex work: strippers, burlesque babes, and other professional show-offs and their customers. I had intended the title to be a sexy suggestion of the complementary fetishes of exhibitionism and voyeurism, not necessarily the main setting for the bulk of the stories. As I kept reading, though, I realized that peep shows and other forms of commercialized sexual displays are a major way we as a culture sanction the act of watching.

There’s a sense of the forbidden in many of the stories you’ll read here, whether money changes hands or not. There is the thrill of baring your body in exactly the place you’re not supposed to, which Lolita Lopez zeroes in on with her nude campus performance art protagonist in “Indecent.” As Lopez writes, “Trini couldn’t stop herself. The risk heightened the allure.” In Malcolm Ross’s “Sleeping Beauty,” the main character catches his gorgeous wife in repose in the middle of the night, and is compelled to keep on watching. M. March gives us a poignant, moving story of being watched over from above.

As for those peep shows, there’s plenty of very sexy jiggling to be seen here. Donna George Storey beautifully and, as always, utterly erotically captures a different kind of peep show in “Clean and Pretty,” in which an American woman in Japan soaps up in the shower, getting paid handsomely, while exulting in the one viewer who can look for free. Geneva King takes us deep inside Amsterdam’s famous red-light district, or “Rosse Buurt,” a woman is drawn to another she sees there, a woman who “stands in her window on the second story, not banging on the glass like the other girls, just standing, surveying the crowd, like she picks the customer and not the other way around, like she’s deciding who is lucky enough to experience any bit of her.” This is the kind of woman who sells her body in this book; one who’s knowing, aware, yet can allow herself to get swept away by passion, even when she’s on the clock.

Modern technology also plays a role here in the webcam-themed “Audience Participation” and “I’ve Only Got Eyes for You,” where private citizens become amateur porn stars. When you think of voyeurs, you probably picture the iconic image of the Peeping Tom, and he’s to be found in these pages as well, once, even wearing a trench coat. But rather than being the town creep, here the various peeping Toms (and Thomasinas) are more than just stereotypes. They see and hear things they aren’t supposed to, and sometimes, as with Sommer Marsden’s Jared in “Satisfaction Guaranteed,” they even get caught.

Neighbors, coworkers, spouses, and hotel guests all experience the power of looking, and being looked at. Even the most intimate relationships can get closer when one person opens himself up to being studied, caressed not with the hands but with the eyes. These stories honor the art of the striptease, the daring of the nudist, the boldness of the person who’ll go out of her way to get more than an eyeful. I hope the sensual visions these stories create stay in your mind’s eye for a long time to come.

Blatantly Watching5
This anthology appealed to me because I have always enjoyed the subtle play of watching a woman from across a room and then feeling her staring back, flirting with our eyes. That sense of the power of watching someone who knows they're being watched, and liked it, is on full display in Peep Show. The stories range for a red light district in Amsterdam to a woman's living room where she gets an eyeful of the man next door, to webcams, nude acrobatics, and much more.

I especially enjoyed the naughty thrill and play on clean and dirty in Clean and Pretty, wondering if such a shower peep show actually exists in Japan. And the last story, Calendar Girl, takes us back to a time when seeing a little skin was indeed titillating, but shows the model's perspective and how exciting it was for her to be watched by so many men. I also liked the webcam tales Audience Participation and I've Only Got Eyes for You because I have enjoyed a webcam or two in my day. My favorites were the stories that had a new take on watching others, and many stories here are ones I know I'll return to again and again.

Can I take a peek? No? I'm taking one anyway...5
Let's be honest... we ALL love to watch. It can be a car accident, a juggling street performer, a nasty hit in a football game, some eighty pound model eating it on the runway, and especially sex. There's a reason porn is so prevalent on the internet. People doing all sorts of crazy sexy things that we would NEVER indulge in. Right? (right)? We're either too scared to try it or don't have the right partner to try it, but we will watch someone else try it. Especially if that person is doing the ONE thing we wish we could do: have crazy-off-the-wall-butt-naked-sweat-like-a-snowcone-in-South Carolina-August-heat sex!!

Everyone loves to watch and everyone DOES watch. This sexy collection tells both sides of the story. I loved this collection because the sex was everywhere and so were the opportunities to watch. I mean really, is there anything that gets our blood pumping faster than watching someone get the ultimate pleasure? No, not really. `Peep Show' takes us into the world of both people who love to see and people who love to be seen. This is a very, very sexual collection and will arouse your emotions and your physical self. It's not unusual to reread your favorite stories in a collection, but is it normal to memorize them? :-) Ah well... either way Rachel does another superb job of picking the perfect stories to go in this sultry, red hot, voyeuristic collection.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Here are my Top 5:

Showtime by Susan St. Aubin
Busted by Kissa Starling
Indecent by Lolita Lopez
I've Only Got Eyes for You by Rachel Kramer Bussell
Missing Michael by M. March

A great balance of sexy and edgy5
Peep Show is a great read for skeptics and true thrill seekers, combining cheeky prose with the right dose of sensuality (without being sleazy). From stripteases to ogling complete strangers, each erotic tale provides readers with just enough to satisfy, yet hungry to try out what has been written for our viewing pleasure. Each chapter beguiles, tickling the senses in such a way that we can deem it "irresistible reading".

So next time you're out, don't judge the couple exhibiting extreme PDA. They're onto something.
