Editorial Reviews

When champions of The Simpsons contend that the animated TV show is the best-written show on the small screen, they're referring as much to the songs that pop up in most episodes as the dialogue. Well, here's a springboard to the Springfield Sound that Simpsons supporters will find irresistible. The musical hotbed of indeterminate locale has drawn everyone from Sonic Youth to Tony Bennett, both of whom contribute original material to Go Simpsonic. But with a cast that includes the inimitable likes of Krusty the Klown ("Like Father, Like Clown"), Waylon Smithers ("Happy Birthday, Mr. Burns"), and Patty and Selma Bouvier ("We Love to Smoke"), who needs pampered VIPs? Toss in the spirited "Everyone Loves Ned Flanders," Kirk Van Houten's wrenching "Can I Borrow a Feeling?" and the Brothers Four (!?) parody "The Ballad of Jebediah Springfield," and you have a singin' and dancin' hullabaloo to last a lunchtime! --Steven Stolder

DOWN CANYONERO!!!5
Beware. If you buy this CD you'll be singing everything on it and driving everyone mad. Why? Because the songs on it are just so damn good with the maddest lyrics. It's really impossible to decide which one is best because they're all great. How can I possiblely compare Rappin' Ronnie Regan (it always makes the trip go faster) to Canyonero.

Forget the cheap 'Simpsons Sing The Blues' CD. This one and 'Songs in the key of Springfield' (both from Rhino) make a great twosome and make for great collectors items. There's loads (perhaps a little too much) of Simpsons merchandise out there and sometimes it's hard to tell what's worth it. Getting this CD is a wise choice.

Another Great Collection of Simpsons Tunes5
If you own Songs in the Key of Springfield and enjoy it, you will enjoy this album as well. The song parodies are there, the theme song reworked as tributes, the witty dialogue, it's all there. I've been waiting years to hear "The First Annual Montgomery Burns Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence" song on CD. My prayers have been answered. A must buy for even the casual Simpsons fan.

Thank heavens for St. Rhino!5
Rhino Records to the rescue...proving yet again that they are the hippest group of music lovers on the planet! After the dissapointing "Yellow Album" I called for this follow up to "Songs In The Key Of Springfield" and, Voila! "Go Simpsonic With The Simpsons" comes along. It is every bit as good as "Songs". The standout this go round is the brilliant "Sherry Bobbins" parody of "Mary Poppins", with all songs complete and intact, even the closing montage! The only problem I have with "Simpsonic" and "Songs In The Key..." is, which one to play. Sweet, sweet Rhino...please do a "Vol.3"...and "4"...and "5"...and...
