B is for Brilliant
My daughter is ten months old, and she has been enjoying Bob Marley's music since the van ride home from the hospital after her birth. She has heard all the songs on this CD numerous times in their original forms, and she loves to dance around with Mommy and Daddy to them. When I put this CD in the player the day we got it, she squeeled with delight, and immediately started bouncing up and down, wanting to be danced around. She is ecstatic about "B is for Bob", and so am I. It introduces a brand new generation to this wonderful music in a great way, and for older fans, these new mixes are a completely new way to hear some of your old favorites! The reworking of "Jammin'" has got to be my favorite on this CD by far...the drum-circle vibe of it is just phenomenal.
This was done with much respect to the original material, by none other than Bob's oldest son, Ziggy. He put a lot of care into reworking his father's songs, and that love shines on this CD. Ziggy has said he wanted it to seem as if Bob was there singing right to the listener - he succeeded! The vocals are right out front on most tracks, sounding as if Bob Marley is actually singing right next to you! Awesome! This CD is a fun way to get your kids into something other than the formulaic top 40 pop that inundates the airwaves these days, and teach them what good music is all about. Ziggy has ensured with this release that his father's musical legacy will continue well after even he has passed from this life. I am going to purchase a copy of this for every kid under ten that I know!

For some, this may look like just another Bob Marley & The Wailers compilation, but for the fans, it's a record that contain new remixes. Amazon omitted to write the complete titles of the songs. Here are the real titles:THREE LITTLE BIRDS (2009 remix), REDEMPTION SONG (2009 mix), WAKE UP AND LIVE Pt.1 (regular song, from 1979), BEND DOWN LOW (2009 remix), LIVELY UP YOURSELF (regular song, from 1974), JAMMING (2009 remix), SMALL AXE (2009 remix), ONE LOVE/PEOPLE GET READY (regular from 1977), SATISFY MY SOUL (2009 remix), COULD YOU BE LOVED (regular, from 1980), STIR IT UP (2009 remix), HIGH TIDE OR LOW TIDE (2009 mix). The most interesting thing is that an alternate take was used for SATISFY MY SOUL. My favorite remix on this CD is JAMMING.

bob....simplified
I heard an interview ziggy did about this cd, and it rang so true! he said that he wanted this cd to sound like it was just bob singing to you--no tracks, no big backround sound. it is really a great angle on music we have loved for many years. clean, simple, honest, straightforward--like it was just you and bob! a very nice treatment of bobs music.....and i dont even have any kids!
