Amazon.com Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description Time to update your old-technology CRT TV? Zoom into the future with the 32-in ch Olevia LT32HVX flat-panel LCD TV, which is HDTV-ready. It incorporates the latest v ideo processing technology--Syntax's iDEA--as well as the enhanced iDIVA virtual surro und sound processing. More than just a high-quality TV, the set's PC inputs also make it equally suitable for home offices. It offers a black cabinet with speakers integrat ed in each side and a removable table-top stand; it's wall-mountable with an optional kit (VESA-compatible--100 x 200). It features a built-in, 181-channel NTSC tuner and c an receive high-definition (ATSC) broadcasts from an optional HD receiver.

This LCD TV provides a 1280 x 720-pixel native resolution for a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio for optimal letterbox movie watching and compatibility with 1080i/720p/480p/480 i video formats. It also offers an extra-wide 170-degree viewing angle, fast 12ms (mil lisecond) response time, 700 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and 7 50:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to dis play subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.)

The LT32HVS performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too--a handy feature for wat ching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 fra mes-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated ; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant informati on to display a frame-accurate picture. A 3D comb filter further enhances resolution b y removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of c olor along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a charact er's striped T-shirt). It provides PIP and split screen functionality between two diff erent video sources. Other convenience features include selectable aspect ratio (4:3, 16:9), channel return, favorite channel, closed captioning, clock/alarm, sleep timer, and V-Chip parental controls.

The 20-watt stereo audio system (two 10-watt speakers) delivers ample sound for sports and movies. The iDIVA virtual surround sound provides you with several easily adjusta ble settings that simulate an array of audio environments. It offers the following con nection options:

  • Composite AV (RCA): 2 in
  • S-Video: 2 in
  • Component video: 2 in
  • DVI: 1 in
  • PC VGA: 1 in
  • RF: 1 in
  • Analog audio (RCA, L/R): 1 out
  • Audio inputs: AV/S-Video x 2, Component x 2, Mini - Stereo Jack x 1

Syntax's iDEA Technology (Innovative Digitally Enhanced Architecture) delivers an exceptional solution to digital display complexities commonly associated with color, contrast, sharpness, motion, noise and audio lip-sync. iDEA's suite of built-in and user-selectable video/audio features delivers precise colors, sharp resolutions and audio synchronization through its advanced Digital Sound Processor (DSP).
Dynamic Brightness & Contrast Controls
Pure Edge Enhancement
Advance Sharpness Control
Maintains overall picture quality by providing consistent, balanced color levels to control shades of gradation in dark or bright image scenes. Virtually eliminates jagged edges from traditional interlaced video formats by creating refined edges around the objects on the screen. Advanced CTI / LTI algorithm improves color shifts and minimizes any type of shadowing or ghosting effects and increases sharpness and detail of pictures.

Dynamic Noise Reduction
Black Level Extender
White Peak Limiter
Reduces motion pattern noises without blurring an image especially when watching regular OTA (Over The Air) television broadcasts and low S/N ratio video signal. Extends certain "gray levels" to black within a picture to define details lost. Analyzes and limits the amplitude of white frequencies, that can distort images resulting in a faded or washed-out appearance during bright scenes.

The result is a balanced image of colors. iDEA Technology incorporates a high performance Digital Sound Processor (DSP). Through DSP's circuitry, the audio-to-video phases are analyzed and matched to prevent "lip-sync" inconsistency.

Great TV for the price5
After doing a lot of research for a few months I had come to the decision of buying this TV. So far I have been pleased. The image is very crisp compared to my friend's Sony that was around $500 more. Some of the pros and cons of this TV:

Pros
1. Very good TV for the price as good if not better than its higher-priced big name brand counterparts.
2. DNR feature, if you have an analog signal from an antenna or cable, this really cleans it up and makes it viewable on this TV.
3. VGA and DVI inputs. I was happy they provided both of these rather than one or the other and force the consumer to use adapters or something.
4. Overall quality of the lcd screen is perfect. No blurriness or other image problems I hear about from other screens.
5. No beeping noises or other such rubbish when you turn it on. Not much a pro but this a little annoying in TVs that do this. It turns on fast too.

Cons

1. The speakers on this TV emit a low hiss-like sound that was pretty annoying. This isn't too big of a problem if you use a home theater system or even just a pair of computer speakers.
2. The remote's button layout seems unintuitive. The channel up-down buttons are placed right under the power button near the upper left part of the remote. I have found myself accidentally turning it off a few times. I plan on getting different remote soon though.
3. No zoom feature. This isn't too big of a problem if your DVD player does this for you.
4. The TV response time to button presses (surfing channels, etc) seems slow. I'm not sure if this is just a basic thing in newer generation TVs or not. Not that big of a bother though.
5. No HDMI input. This is the only real drawback here but DVI provides almost the same quality image.

Overall this is a very nice TV that performs well. Gaming is a blast especially if you have Xbox. Despite the minor flaws I still give this 5 stars, all the cons can be dealt with and the main reason for the TV (the screen itself) is flawless. I recommend this too anyone wanting to jump on the HD bandwagon but not pay the super high prices of those other brands.

Great deal...pleased...still reviewing4
The TV really looks awesome and the quality seems good. I did a lot of research before buying. It is our first TV in about 12 years, so maybe we are easily impressed, but it does looks as good as the neighbor's Sony HDTV. Couple things about the specs: Amazon and other places on the Internet continue to mix the specs of the LT32HV, LT32HVM, and the LT32HVE. I found the only correct source seems to be from the downloadable product manual on Syntax Olevia's own website. For instance, this TV does not have POP3 and POP12 like the LT32HV, which is fine because I wasn't in need of it. One problem I had was digital remnants playing Armageddon (update: restarted DVD player and it was fine - not a TV problem). It was OK with the DVD player set to deliver to a 4:3 size screen, but not when set to a 16:9 screen. Also, the zoom feature of the LT32HV may have been better than the viewing features of the HVM because I seem to have trouble getting the perfect widescreen from my DVD player and the extra zoom options may have helped. I think making adjustments to my JVC DVD player may eventually fix it. We'll see. I am pleased with the panaramic view options that stretch a 4:3 signal more at the edges than in the middle, which is one reason I choose the HVM over the HV. Overall, I am very happy with the TV and the deal was incredible.

Great Picture -- Real Bargain5
This TV, wall-mounted in our bedroom, has a great picture and surprisingly good sound. Right out of the box with default settings, it looked great. I selected it based on the after-rebate price and was pleased to see quality comparable with sets costing twice as much.

There's one feature I really miss, however: it doesn't have a "stretch" or "un-letterbox" setting. If you're watching a 16:9 widescreen DVD, you'd like it to fill all of this model's 16:9 screen, without cutting off any part of the picture. Some DVD players will do that for you; others have only a "Zoom" function which cuts off the edges. If the feature were built into the television, it would be quite handy.

Similarly, if you're watching network TV programming that's broadcast in widescreen format (whether received via the internal tuner, a TiVo tuner, or a tuner in your VCR), you'll notice that the picture looks squashed, with black bands at the top and bottom. That's because you're watching the analog version of the signal, and it's been broadcast in letterbox format to accomodate the 4:3 crowd. The only way to use your whole screen would be to buy a digital tuner.

Despite that limitation, I am very pleased with the set and would order it again.
