Works Great! Splits through HDMI to DVI flawlessly!
I just received this unit and am using it to split the single HDMI output from my Cable box to two TV's, one a newer Vizio LCD and the other an older 65" Mitsubishi rear projection with a DVI port. The connection to the Visio is via a 25' HDMI cable, while the connection to the Mitsubishi is via a 10' HDMI to DVI adapter cable.
Contrary to one of the other reviews, only one TV needs to be on at any time for the unit to work. Does a great job with no loss of picture or sound quality, even through the longer HDMI cable and the HDMI to DVI adapter cable.

What you should know....
I purchased this item about a year ago, and unlike what at least one other reviewer said, you can view one TV at a time, or both simultaneously. I have my Onkyo HDMI receiver's HDMI output going into this box, and in one of the outputs, I have a 10' HDMI cable to a 42" LCD TV. On the other output, I have a 35' HDMI cable routed to another room to a 37" LCD. I can watch one at a time (either one) or both. Can't get any simpler than that. This is flawless. Make sure to get quality cables if you run lengths, since digital signals in the HDMI format does not use packets, but a steady stream, so quality counts. As for this product, it gets a full 5 stars from me.

This HDMI 1x2 is not HDMI 1.3 compliant as is described in the product description. This unit is HDMI 1.2a + HDCP 1.0/1.1 according to info posted on its manufacture's web as of today 5/9/2009.

Its top bandwidth frequency is "up to 165MHz", which translates into 4.95Gbps maximium. This is the target of HDMI 1.2; HDMI 1.3 bandwidth is 10.2Gbps. Such important product performance data should be provided in product description, and HDMI 1.2 should not be "typo" into V1.3

There is argument regarding whether both TVs need to be on for this splitter to work. Different reviewers have different facts. They are all correct. Because there are some TVs when shut down (no picture on the screen, but still has power connected), the HDMI interface will also be powered down, in such case, the splitter won't work to support the other TV. There are also some TVs, when shut down, the HDMI interface can still remain in standby / power on mode, so that splitter thinks this TV is still on, so in such case, the other TV still can get the signal for it to work.

So, if you can shut down one TV and watch the other, it is not because this splitter is good for that, it is because you are lucky.

(Similar observations can be applied to some HDMI switch case, some HDMI output will stay in standby mode even there is no output signal, therefore some HDMI switchers think there is signal coming in, in such cases, the inteligent function of the HDMI matrix/switcher may not work correctly, and require human interference. For example, a lot of DVR/DVD in particular satellite box will continue to output signals in sleep / shut down modes, and many people may think they are off, not they are NOT COMPLETELY off )

Newer generation of splitter has eliminated this TV dependence.
