These pretty little ramekins are a bit different in style than the traditional vertically rippled cups that look like miniature soufflé dishes. The tall, smooth sides are only interrupted by three horizontal ridges--it's a clean look, and actually makes them more practical. They're easier to grab from under the hot broiler and also easier to scrub clean after use--no more caramelized sugar trapped in the ripples! The smooth interior flares just slightly at the top to provide a broader surface area for that tasty top layer. Each ramekin holds up to 8 ounces when filled to the very brim, and goes easily from freezer to oven or microwave--terrific for make-ahead fruit crisps or cobblers. Versatile Ramekins
I received 2 sets of these (in white) for a wedding shower. I love them, as they are the perfect size. I use them for serving in and baking with (they are perfect for melting a few tablespoons of margarine in the microwave!). My only complaint is that they show markings on the bottom of the bowl where utensils were used. But still...one of my favorite pieces in kitchen.

Red rules
I love these little red ramekins. They are so much fun, and are the perfect size for making individual desserts for a dinner party. They are nice and sturdy, too, so you can bake and serve a dessert. The only problem with this set is that it only comes with 2 ramekins, which isn't really enough. And be sure to get the red, as the other colors, while nice, don't have the same visual effect in my opinion.

the most wonderful ramekin ever
These ramekins beautiful enough to plop on the table when company comes, they're quite roomy and they clean up easily.
Personally, I like the idea of ramekins in general; it's easy to portion out your food and who doesn't like their own little serving of lemon pudding or spinach souffle?
All my Le Creuset purchases have been successful; I plan to eventually replace all my cookware with this brand.
