The Best Book I Have Read In Years
I must first confess that I have been following the weLEAD leadership site for many years and I am particularly impressed with the writings and previous book (52 Leadership Tips) by Greg Thomas. As you can tell, my expectations were very high when this book arrived. I ordered it through Amazon and just completed it. This book touched every emotion I possess. It was funny, at times sad, encouraging, challenging, and reflective. It also left me to ponder some serious changes I need to make in my life. Thomas has a unique way of weaving into his writings illustrated examples from history or people to make a clear point. I also learned a lot more about him in this book than his first publication.
The concept that Thomas has in this book is simple. He believes that a contented and fulfilled life is like a giant puzzle. If any of the pieces are missing or abused ... then life is incomplete and that is why there is so much unhappiness in the world today. Within the pages of the book he introduces one puzzle piece at a time as a valuable life "principle." He explains why each principle is necessary to achieve a life filled with real purpose. He continues building the puzzle with what he calls the "12 Principles of Personal Leadership." I found the final or 12th principle to be a surprise but it was excellently presented, passionately written, yet was not sanctimonious.
I am a book worm and read many books from many different genres. It makes the winters in New England more tolerable. I honestly feel this is the best book I have read in years. It is so many books in one. It is a book about history, wisdom, educational, motivational, corrective and even inspirational. If you want to read a book that can enrich your life, or those around you, read Making Life's Puzzle Pieces Fit.
