Great for outdoor wedding reception
I was a little worried this wouldn't be powerful enough for our outdoor tented wedding reception (100 people), but it worked really well. Could also be used as an amp for a guitar or keyboard.
A few problems
Well, I purchased two of these units to use at car shows. The unit comes with a wireless mike which has pretty decent range (about 75 feet) and the audio is fair to good.
Problem is that the squelch system that mutes the speaker when there is no signal present is intermittent. Sometimes it's open and allows noise to come through when the mike is shut off.
Both units act the same way.
I have since modified the mikes so that they cannot be powered down.
(except by removing the battery)
This way a signal is present all the time and the unit does not create noise in the absence of a wireless mike signal. (The audio on/off function on the side of the mike still operates)
The units have a receiver built into the speaker but no external controls to allow squelch adjustment.
When music is played through the speakers, the dynamic range is what I would describe as "fair".
As long as the music is not played to loud the audio fidelity seems to be fairly reasonable.
For this reason, I doubt the manufactures power output claim.
When music is played at higher levels the audio suffers severe distortion.
EVANGELISM TOOL
THIS IS A 'MUST HAVE' FOR STREET EVANGELISM. EASY TO CARRY, CLEAR SOUND AND THE BATTERY OPERATION IS A GREAT ASSET TO ENHANCE MINISTRY!
