Good toy for learning to recognize alphabet
I bought this for my 2yo son after he learned to match numbers with the Numbers Talking Stick. This is a good toy to introduce and recognize letters. The voice that makes each letter sound isn't very clear, so I'm hoping he'll just ignore that part and it doesn't have an adverse effect on his learning the letter sounds. For the most part, this is a good toy to introduce letters and help children begin to learn to recognize them.
Smart Sticks really work
I was very impressed with this toy. I work with Pre-School kids in their homes getting them ready for Kinder. I coach parents, screen kids and supply educational materials for the family. I love this toy and its companion toys Smart Sticks Colors & Shapes and Smart Sticks Numbers. Remember I work with kids to whom English is a second language. After a week playing with Smart Sticks, a typical four year old knows the skill the toy teaches like bilingual numbers or colors and shapes. It takes about three weeks to learn all the letters and sounds. Great invention. Very useful in my work! As for durability I only had one problem when a neighbor kids took the toy and threw it in the sandbox. We opened it up, cleaned it out and it worked fine after that. Word of Advise: No sandbox play with this one.
Educational and Fun
My 2 year old son loves this toy. It fits in his little hand perfect (it's about the size of a standard cordless phone) and the buttons are big enough he can push the individual buttons. The sound is clear and he loves the alphabet song.
