Editorial Reviews

Review
Praise for the First Edition

“A historically significant, worthy contribution to the veterinary literature. Any clinician who anticipates practice with South American camelids would benefit from having this book in his or her library.” -- Charles J. Sedgwick, Journal of the American Veterinary Medicine Association

“Not just for llama veterinarians but also for the practitioner and zoo veterinarian, tne book offers valuable advice as to the treatment of these unique animals and will be indispensable for anyone involved in South American camelid medicine.” – A Rubel Zurich, Switzerland, Journal of Veterinary Medicine, Series A

“For veterinarians in English-speaking countries these camelids have posed a major problem, as the limited literature on these animals has been largely published in Spanish. … Murray Fowler has bridged this gap magnificently – T. J. Bergin, Australian Veterinary Journal

“Truly a labor of love. There is no comparable book available today.” – LaRue W. Johnson, DVM, PhD, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Colorado State University

Customer Reviews

The only vet oriented lama book available.4
Although the book can be a dificult read for the layman, it is THE book for medical information on lamas. Dr. Fowler has been in the forefront of the llama industry since its inception in this country. This is a must have for your veterinarian if you have a lama of any kind. The only new best thing will be his new edition due to be out soon. (Lama is the genus, such as alpaca, vicuna, llama is the particular animal)

VERY THOROUGH4
I am a relatively new alpaca breeder with lots of questions. This book answers many of my more detailed questions and gives good resource references that are current. The appropriate health care of alpacas has a lot of controversy, but this book is objective in presenting the data. The reading is easy and once I started reading a topic I had to finish the chapter. I believe that everyone in the alpaca business should have a chance to review this book and use it as needed.

A MUST book for all lama owners and lama vets.5
