Album Details
2006 Digitally Remastered Edition of the Debut Album by the Group that was Originally an Ancillary Project of the "British Electrical Foundation" of Bef, Formed as a Result of a Rift in the Human League. Ian Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware Had Separated from Phil Oakey (Who Retained the Human League Moniker) and Recruited Vocalist Glenn Gregory, who Not Surprisingly Sounded Very Similar in Style to Oakey. Their Objective was the Give the Synthesizer a More Soulful Sound. The Trio's First Single "(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang" Became the First of a Log String of UK Hits, Not at all Suffering from a BBC Ban Due to the Title in Lady Thatcher's Reign. It was Followed by "Play to Win", "The Height of the Fighting" and "Let's all Make a Bomb". This Edition Adds the 12" Tracks of "Are Everything" (A Buzzcocks Cover), "i'm Your Money" and the B-sides of Bef Tracks "Groove Thang", "Decline of the West" and "Honeymoon in New York".

Remastered?
I bought the remastered version just to find a major error in the remastering of the title song "Penthouse and Pavement". It made me wonder if any one was paying attention to what they were doing in remastering this great album. About one minute into the song "Penthouse and pavement" all the highs drop out of one speaker for about five seconds and then return. I own this on vinal and an original pressing of the cd and this error is not in the master tapes. I thought maybe it was just on the downloadable mp3, but found this error on other websites where this album is sold. If it weren't for a couple annoying glitches I would have given this 5 stars.

WOW - WOW !!! I have heard a new god! This remaster is beyond comparison. How could I be shocked since the BEF guys behind Heaven 17 were involved with this project - the aural landscape provided in this release is mind expanding. No need for a crappy stepped on X pill. This is a masterpiece. Fresh musical experimentation in the early 80s - truly amazing. As a huge Human League fan, I can only say that, now - without a doubt - H-17 had the soul and energy; if Phil and Martyn could get over whatever happened ...... Am waiting for the 2 other Heaven remasters. This is ear candy with a smart kick in the head and two in each hip. Truly, absolutely groundbreaking - and brilliant.
