Night light5
A couple months ago [...]started to whine and fuss at bedtime. Usually we do our nighttime stuff and she goes to bed without a peep. I bought this for her to play with to ease the transition from light to dark room. I stopped using a night light in her room when she began to sleep through the night. Now she plays with this as I say good night and she shines it around and bed time is once again enjoyable. It was hard for her at first to crank it enough to have fun, so I would crank it a bit and leave it with her. Now she's 32 months and can crank it enough to have fun and click it on and off by herself. I still give it a few good cranks before I say good nite and shut the door. It's nice to hear her quietly playing a little and then drift off to sleep instead of kicking and whining. And I'll never have to put batteries in it YAY! I also bought her the Glo-E-Bear after seeing how she liked something with lights at night time. The bear is really cool, soft and colorful, but uses alot of batteries. It self turns off after like 10 or 15 minutes. I use rechargeables in it now so I don't waste so many batteries. But the flashlight is awesome, I know she'll enjoy it even more when she can really crank it! It is very durable too. And a nice little backup for the whole family in case of a power outage!

awesome5
i got two of these for my boys, who are 4 and 3 years of age. it's awesome man..especially for bedtime...because they're not afraid of the dark...they have flashlight wars on the ceiling...no batteries...big plus ! it's just awesome....get one you'll love it !

Great for the purpose it serves5
This crank n glow flashlight serves its purpose well. It definitely is a toy and not a regular flashlight. It doesn't light up very bright but thats exactly the way you would like it to be if you are giving it your kid at bedtime. As with other parents I am so so glad that it doesn't gobble up batteries and keeps them engaged. Would highly recommend this.
