Product Description

One boy, penniless and in rags, forced to beg in the street. The other, a king's son, coddled and given all he could want. What happens when the two boys change clothes and places and learn how the other half lives? Mark Twain's satirical and suspenseful novel about the thin line that separates prince and pauper is a perennial favourite. Abridged for easier reading and carefully rewritten, with Classic Starts[trademark], young readers can experience the wonder of timeless stories from an early age.

Praise for Classic Starts™:

“The books have won the praise of a number of educators. Peggy Charren, a visiting scholar at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, an advocate for higher-quality children’s media, and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, said she has read several {and states}’they’re terrific.’”—The Wall Street Journal.

“Where abridgements are useful in introducing literature to grade-schoolers not equipped to handle the real thing, books in this series will fill the bill.”—Booklist.

“Large print, short chapters, and an abundance of white space provide an attractive, more-accessible option for readers who are not ready to handle the originals.”—School Library Journal

“Even those who dislike adaptations will find much to admire in this retelling…”—School Library Journal (for The Adventures of Tom Sawyer)

“This…retelling will be appreciated by readers not yet ready for the original work.”—School Library Journal (for Anne of Green Gables).

Good adventure read4
The book is an interesting adventure of going around the world without planes, modern communication tools and other conveniences we take for granted. My 7 year old son was very interested in the characters and their progress and motives during their trip. Having read the original version myself, I found this copy very well edited to keep a child engaged and keep the spirit of the story and author.

Fogg and Passpartoit's Excellent Adventure5
Fogg and Passpartout's Excellent Adventure
Around the world in 80 Days by Jules Verne is an adventure book that starts out slowly, but the pace gets faster as you read on. The characters have to get past the bandits. The bandits are Indian people who are like a gang and who have the character, Aouda, in a hut. Fogg and Passpartout want to save the woman. They save Aouda while she is sleeping. When she wakes up she is on a train with Fogg. Fogg and Passpartout were not expecting her to come on the adventure. Now the three instead of two saw all kinds of things, in different parts of the world. They traveled on boats and trains. Their travels took them to India, China, and the United States. Fogg and Passpartout need to get to London in 80 days so Fogg can win a bet. If Fogg wins the bet he can keep his money and pride. He will also prove that he was not the robber and not have to go to jail. During the trip Passpartout went on errands for Fogg so they would have proof that they went on their trip around the world.

Some one who likes to read adventure books would enjoy this book.
