About the Author
Mr. Harte is the president of Althos, an expert information provider which researches, trains, and publishes on technology and business industries. He has over 29 years of technology analysis, development, implementation, and business management experience. Mr. Harte has worked for leading companies including Ericsson/General Electric, Audiovox/Toshiba and Westinghouse and has consulted for hundreds of other companies. Mr. Harte continually researches, analyzes, and tests new communication technologies, applications, and services. He has authored over 80 books on telecommunications technologies and business systems covering topics including IPTV, mobile telephone systems, data communications, voice over data networks, broadband, prepaid services, billing systems, sales, and Internet marketing. Mr. Harte holds many degrees and certificates including an Executive MBA from Wake Forest University (1995) and a BSET from the University of the State of New York, (1990). Bob Giddy is a professionally qualified electronics engineer with over 30 years experience in manufacturing and design with systems and semiconductor companies. Prior to joining Amino, Giddy worked as a senior manager for National Semiconductor, based in Munich and the northern European headquarters. While at National Semiconductor, he ran the northern Europe sales and marketing operation for the telecommunications market, working with key customers such as Alcatel, Ericsson and Nokia. Giddy later joined NEC Electronics, working for 14 years, first as a director and then as general manager of the northern Europe business. During this time, he established the NEC multimedia design centre in Milton Keynes, UK and oversaw the development of the first single-chip MPEG-2 video decoder. After leaving NEC, Giddy established the European sales and marketing operation for inSilicon, a silicon IP vendor. Daniel Marcus is the corporate marketing manager for IPTV and broadband solutions at UTStarcom, Inc. based in Alameda, CA. Daniel has worked primarily for startups in the telecommunications industry for eight years in a variety of capacities including marketing, sales and operations, enabling him to understand the unique challenges operators face in the evolving broadband marketplace. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California at San Diego. Les Wyatt is Vice President of Harris Corporation and General Manager of Harris Software Systems, a division of Harris' Broadcast Communications Division based in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Wyatt oversees global operations of the Software Systems business, which includes software product lines in advertising, automation, broadband, digital asset management and media management. Mr. Wyatt has more than 28 years of management experience in leading technology companies. Prior to Harris, he was the Group Vice President and General Manager of EnterpriseOne at PeopleSoft, an enterprise software business focused on the manufacturing industrial sector. Before his position at PeopleSoft, Mr. Wyatt was Chief Marketing Officer for J.D. Edwards. Prior to that Mr. Wyatt held executive management positions with Harbinger and Texas Instruments. Mr. Wyatt also serves on the Board of directors of the Colorado Software and Internet Association, Colorado's leading technology trade association, where he was Chairman in 2005.
