It's called a classic for a reason. The characters don't work for me, the setting is almost completely foreign, the dialogue canned. Even so, I felt compelled to keep turning the pages. Beautiful.

Gotta love academics. There're people out there claiming this book is secretly about homosexual love. Reading this, I laughed as much as I wanted to cry. If this is homosexual love, they have my pity. This is a tale of horror stemming from one man's unthinking ambitions multiplied by his unwise pride. The result is a powerful, thinking, jealous creature bent on vengeance against Frankenstein.

Another pleasure from Robin Hobb. This is another glimpse into the soul of FitzChivalry Farseer, from her Farseer Trilogy. Once again, Fitz' tortured quest to exist in a world that would destroy him draws me in, and I go eagerly. We learn more of the Fool (now Lord Golden), and get an accounting of those he left behind. Once again, FitzChivalry Farseer becomes the Catalyst.

Ouch. Is this really how Rowling 'planned' the conclusion of this series? Not very satisfying at all, but I suppose I'm less attached to it than most seem to be.

This is the only James Patterson book that I have read thus far... I have to say I'm unimpressed. I've seen movies based on some of his other books, and I'm left hoping that at least some of his titles are anywhere near as enjoyable as the movies.

Hilarious and informative! Best way to spend a night when you can't sleep.

After receiving a head wound in battle, Latro, a persian soldier, lives through a dizzying array of events set in the ancient mediterranean, his fate buffetted by the whims of both human and supernatural powers. At moments profound, this book drags at other points, and has a strong literary bent unusual amongst most titles found in the fantasy/sci-fi aisle.
