Customer Reviews
Lots of fun in many ways!
This is a delightful book! I love build-upon stories. They are kind of tongue-twisting memory challenges, the pieces of the story adding one upon the other, building, building, building to that final tie-it-all-together line. I shared this book with my 8-year old niece. I read a page aloud and then she read a page. We enjoyed it very much! The illustrations are fun and the layout is great. I like the artwork cumulatively added to each page as the pictures are great prompts and help keep track of events. At the end of the book the author has included the story in written musical form. My niece and I played the song on the piano and sang the story. Through words, illustration, and music, "The Buggy That Boogied Away" is clever and a whole lot of fun!
An Entertaining and Educational Story
The Buggy That Boogied Away by Betsy B. Lee.
Ms. Lee has published a book that addresses how children learn by repetition. "The Buggy That Boogied Away" is full of charm, colorful illustrations and a story rich in remembering a time long ago.
Children will learn and understand the use of repetition of words by reading, hearing and singing a song that repeats the story. The use of rhyming patterns and sequencing helps build the children's reading comprehension and writing skills.
This book is definitely one for the teachers to have in their professional teaching library. Parents will also find this book useful and delightful to either read to their children or have the children read or sing the story to them. All in all, Ms. Lee has penned another great story that is entertaining and educational.
Out of the mouths of babes
I have taught elementary school and have children of my own. What I liked about "The Buggy That Boogied Away" was the repetition. Patterns are wonderful for younger students as well as those learning English. It gives them something familiar to latch on to. This is what my four-year old, Maya, had to say about the book:
"I thought the book was good. The best part was when the car looked like it was blinking."
