Customer Reviews
Definitely complete but not really clear on instructions
The only thing I don't like about this book, is that it gives you a word, then you have two rows to write the word. Or you'll have an entire page with about 7 lines to write one sentence. Are you supposed to only write the word one time? I make my kid write it like 3 or 4 times which ends up being a lot of busy work. If they only write it one time, I feel like the book is kind of a waste. If you're trying to teach younger children their letters, I'd probably pass on this book, but its probably fine for an older child.
Excellent practice
This workbook has a manuscript section and a cursive section. Within each section, there are four pages devoted to each letter of the alphabet. The first page has five lines to practice the uppercase letter and five lines to practice the lowercase letter. Both cases have a stroke-sequenced letter demonstrating how to write the letter (for right-handers... I'm not sure if it is different for lefties). The remaining three pages have ten lines to practice writing words starting with the designated letter. After going through the alphabet, the workbook goes through numbers, days of the week, months, etc. The cursive section is set up the same way.
We are using the book along with Englemann's "Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons", and we use this for the handwriting task. The workbook is basic, yet comprehensive and it has met our needs perfectly.
Handwriting that's fun
My two daughters really have enjoyed this book. We use it for fun extra practice of handwriting.
