This multi-tool features DLC coating for scratch and corrosion resistance as well as a 154CM stainless steel blade that will hold its edge three-times as long as a traditional stainless steel knife. About Leatherman: Time-Tested Tools
On a low-budget trip through Europe in 1975, recent college graduate Tim Leatherman faced a number of impromptu "fix-it" situations that his traditional pocket knife couldn't help with. The new Freestyle CX is great as a stand-alone tool, because it takes up so little space, it's also the perfect companion for those activity-specific tools that don't feature pliers or a knife. Featuring DLC coating for scratch and corrosion resistance this is one little tool that's up for the big jobs. To hold it folded is to appreciate the ergonomic grip that makes opening the outside accessible blade smooth and fast like a pocket knife. To unfold it and work the plier is to understand that torque power, when engineered correctly, is not a matter of size, but a matter of years of design expertise.

Nice but the skeletool cx is better
The difference between the Skeletool Cx and the Freestyle Cx
is simple that Freestyle doesn't have the Bit driver and the carabiner bottle opener... and only 0.5 ounces less... I will prefer the Skeletool always.. but the Freestyle is ok...
about the plain blade is just matter or taste i think... I like the serrated blade on the Skeleool cx
Minimalist but Useful
I own a number of Leatherman tools, and the Freestyle is another fine addition to my collection. While the pliers aren't as beefy as the ones on the Wave or similar larger tools, they are perfectly capable of most tasks. The blade is a useful shape and holds an edge nicely. The main advantage to this tool is the small size and light weight. Fit's it's nitch very nicely.
Great tool - less to carry than your Wave
I've got a Leatherman Wave which is a fantastic tool to have on hand, but is sometimes more than I want to carry around. This is a great substitute when I only want to carry a few ounces around with me. The build quality is even better than the Wave. Smoother opening action for both the blade and the pliers. The blade is a very good steel, and has held a sharp edge through much use.
