Product Description

Organic Bedtime tea is a safe, gentle, and delicious way to help you get a restful night's sleep. Valerian (valeriana officinalis) and other calming herbs included in this organic formula have been used for centuries to promote sleep without the risk of a morning "hangover" that can sometimes result from the use of drug products. This healing formula also includes organic chamomile (matricaria recutita), which has been used for years by Western herbalists to soothe and relax and for its effectiveness in combating nervousness and restlessness. Mild relaxants such as organic St. John's wort and passion flower are also included in this formula. St. John's wort is well known for its positive effects on mood, while passion flower, a Native American herb containing the naturally occurring chemical chrysina, a flavonoid, has been shown to help reduce nervousness and anxiety. This tea is also enhanced with organic skullcap, which has scutellarian, a plant compound that is known to help reduce anxiety. To help promote better and deeper sleep, health practitioners recommend avoiding caffeine products. Drink Organic Bedtime tea before bed for a good night's sleep. USDA certified organic and certified organic by QAI, Inc.

About the Brand
In 1969, Yogi Bhajan, an inspired and inspiring spiritual leader, began teaching Kundalini Yoga in America. He shared the knowledge of Ayurveda and healthy living that he had mastered in India. After each class he would serve a special spice tea to his students, which they affectionately named "Yogi Tea." The recipe contained five traditional Ayurvedic spices: cardamom seed, cinnamon bark, clove bud, ginger root and black pepper. Given the unique, healthful properties of these delicious spices, they are still included in many Yogi Tea formulas as an added boost for overall well-being.

Ayurveda (science of life) is a comprehensive philosophy and health system developed 5,000 years ago in India. Ayurvedic medicine combines natural therapies with a balanced approach to treatment of disease. Ayurvedic philosophy places equal emphasis on body, mind and spirit as it strives to restore the innate harmony of the individual.

In the 1970s, small businesses began to take root under the inspiration and dedication of a number of Yogi Bhajan’s students. Golden Temple Vegetarian Restaurants opened in the United States, Canada and Europe. The rich and spicy aroma of Yogi Tea brewing permeated the environment, and soon customers wanted to brew their own at home. Through these restaurants, the first batches of Yogi Tea were sold to the public.

In 1984, this grassroots endeavor blossomed into the Yogi Tea Company. Packages of the dried spices began to appear in natural foods stores throughout Southern California. Soon, the spices were more finely ground and sold in tea bags, and by 1986, Yogi Tea was distributed nationwide in three flavors. In 1988, Yogi Bhajan and his team of master herbalists expanded the line to address specific health needs by creating highly specialized herbal formulas. In 1991, the company decided it would use organic ingredients. Obstacles immediately arose, as there simply weren’t enough organic herbs and spices available. But following a four-year-long effort, a partnership was formed with ForesTrade to source organic Indonesian cinnamon, the most-used ingredient at the time, and several other spices from community-based organic farms.

Currently, 17 Yogi Teas are certified organic, but all contain organic ingredients in variable proportion. The company sources 63 organic herbs and spices and is always looking for new organic sources as some of the natural healing herbs, oils and extracts used are not yet available organically.

Yogi Teas have continued to evolve, meeting the ever-changing needs of the customer. In 2007, the entire Yogi Tea line is being repackaged and introduced as a collection of newly defined Body, Mind, Spirit product lines. This new way of thinking takes tea beyond a simple beverage and into a way of living.

Each of the more than 50 Yogi Teas is formulated for a different purpose. Whether it’s time to jump start the day, participate in or recover from physical activity, calm the mind and clarify thoughts or revive the spirit and reflect on the world, there’s a Yogi Tea to meet that need.

Yogi Teas are developed and produced at the company’s modern manufacturing facility in Eugene, Oregon. There the highest-quality herbs and spices, expert knowledge of the health benefits of each ingredient and the wisdom of Ayurveda are incorporated into every tea.

love it5
I am totally addicted to this tea. It tastes wonderful and really relaxes me to sleep at night. I used to have to take benadryl if I really wanted to sleep, but now I just have a few bags of this and I'm out!! I'll even drink it during the day if I'm stressed out.

great tea but too much stevia4
My 10 yr. old and I drink caffeine free tea every night. This one has more and seemingly better ingredients than our usual sleep time tea, but it is too heavy on the stevia leaf which leaves a very strong "sweet & low" type aftertaste.
It does have very relaxing qualities and the flavor is great until the aftertaste of each sip. I am going to try using one bag of this and one bag of our usual sleep time tea to see if this helps because it really is a good tea if you are used to using artificial sweetners (as I am not) and want a healthier alternative. Half as much stevia and I would give it 5 stars.

Yogi Bedtime Tea Bags5
This is the first bedtime tea I've tried. I'm not much of a tea conossuier of any kind for that matter. My wife bought a box from our local "whole foods" grocery for about $5.50 and I liked it. I bought six boxes (including shipping) for $14.71 with Amazon's auto-refill option.

This tea is very good tasting. It definately helps me fall asleep. I doubt the effect is chemical, I think it's more of a perception. Anyway, I highly recommend this product. Also, at $0.15 per bag you can't go wrong. Happy tea drinking!
