Customer Reviews
No where near industial grade!
We purchased 20 of these wagons less than a year ago and they have been steadily falling apart. Of the 20 we purchased, only 9 remain operable.
Northern Tool states they have a 1400 lb capacity and we never exceeded 500 lbs. The main issue is the front wheels break off and after the wheel breaks in transit the frame for the steering control bends. The wheels break in the hubs and are impossible to fix!
To Northern Tools credit we called and explained the problem and they have offered a full refund. There was very little discussion before the customer service representative made the offer (in my opinion, this quick offer for full refund indicates Northern Tool knew fully well about the design flaw and has fielded numerous complaints). The problem with this seemingly generous offer is Northern Tool will not cover the freight to return the wagons!
The customer service representative indicated this wagon was the top of the line and did not have anything to replace it with. I decided to review their site and found a new edition, heavier capacity wagon with 16" wheels due for release on August 17, 2007, less than a month from when I called.
Just Okay...
The wagon was shipped in a box that really took some punishment in transit. The box and tapes were torn exposing a portion of the end of the wagon.
No assembly instructions were included for this wagon. I am an intelligent professional woman and though we have lots of great tools in the garage and I have a working knowledge of geometry, I would have appreciated some guidelines on assembly. I did telephone the company at their help line only to be given another number to call, at which time the customer service was closed and not to be open until the following Monday. In addition, the person I spoke to at the company initially instructed me to go online and look for instructions for a similar wagon - though one did not exist. One of the pins for the sides was missing, so we made a trip to the local Ace Hardware store and had to purchase a similar pin and while there, noticed the same wagon ALREADY ASSEMBLED for 79.99!!!!
It is a somewhat heavy duty wagon and I am sure will hold up for several years. And, if not...the next wagon will come already assembled from our local Ace Hardware.
Great for Heavy Hauling
We bought our large cart already assembled at Home Depot on sale. I love the drop down sides which were great when loading and unloading large bags of soil by myself. However, I found the wagon too heavy for daily use of puttering around the flower beds. It's heavy empty, and I couldn't manage pulling it even partially loaded uphill (0ur yard slopes).
Today I bought a smaller version at Ace Hardware for more than we paid for the big one a year ago! It has the same drop down sides but is smaller and less heavy to pull. It should nicely replace the old child's little red wagon that I've been using for many years.
