Realm vs. Realm
Upon entering WAR, players must determine their allegiance and join an army. Those inclined towards the side of good may fight for the Realm of Order as an obstinate Dwarf, noble High Elf, or loyal human soldier of the Empire. Those inclined towards darker deeds may side with the sinister Realm of Destruction as a savage Greenskin (Orc o r Goblin), corrupt Dark Elf, or marauding human worshiper of Chaos. RvR combat takes place on three fronts where ancient foes wage an unending war – Dwarfs vs. Greenskins, High Elf vs. Dark Elf, and Empire vs. Chaos. Players begin the game fighting their ancestral enemy, but are free to journey to other fronts to help their allies in their ongoing struggles.

The ultimate goal in RvR combat is the sacking of the enemy’s capital city. To do this, an army must invade and take control of the opposition’s homeland. Deciding battles take place in the persistent game world on objective-based battlefields and around fortified keeps that must be taken or defended, as well as in instanced Scenarios that contribute to zone control.

A New Way to Quest
For the first time, players can engage in Public Quests; these community driven Player vs. Environment (PvE) quests help to advance the game’s story and allow all allied players within a certain location to participate in an ongoing, multi-stage battle. This is an example of how every aspect of the game, including PvE content, is geared towards the greater war in some important way. Players are not required to participate in Player vs. Player (PvP) combat, and may aid in the RvR war effort and enjoy the game in its entirety via PvE content.

Key Features

  • Dominated by force of arms and magic, Games Workshop’s popular Warhammer fantasy world provides a rich setting for hundreds of thousands of players to experience the epic nature of war and the glory of battle.
  • Join one of six armies and fight for the Realms of Order (Dwarf, High Elf and Empire) or Destruction (Greenskin, Dark Elf, or Chaos).
  • Never fight alone thanks to a next generation Realm vs. Realm (RvR) game system. With an army of allied players at your back, you will defend your homeland, invade enemy realms, and ultimately join the siege of your opposing Realm’s capital city. Different types of RvR combat include:
    • Open World RvR: Participate in melee skirmishes, objective-based battles and keep sieges.
    • Scenarios: Join instanced battles with up to 24 players per side for multi-player combat action, including Capture the Flag, Murder Ball, and more.
    • Capital City Siege: Take part in an ongoing campaign to invade an enemy’s land and sack their capital city.
  • Journey to the frontlines and undertake a wide variety of PvE quest types related to an army’s ongoing war efforts, including the new Public Quests: multi-staged, communal quests to be completed by allied players fighting together against overwhelming odds.
  • Embark on an epic quest to complete the Tome of Knowledge and unlock Warhammer lore, detailed monster information, new abilities and rewards, and major story plot lines.
  • A robust combat system allows players to customize their character’s combat abilities with Career Masteries, Tactics, and Morale Skills.
  • Explore ma ssive Living Cities that become more or less prosperous based on a Realm’s overall performance in the ongoing war. Navigate a maze of twisting streets, visit the local tavern, explore a dark undercity, and meet colorful personalities in a city full of adventure.
Drawing from a quarter century of highly detailed source material, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning brings Games Workshop’s fantasy world to life in a way that will allow players to create characters destined for great deeds and glory on the field of battle.

Best MMORPG???5
Let's get one thing out of the way, i've been a loyal Warcraft fan for several years now and aside from owning maybe 4 books based in the Warhammer universe, i have no real knowledge of Warhammer. I wasn't even going to purchase this game when it came out but a friend of mine who was playing warcraft with me jumped ships and told me that it was a must. so i gave it a shot.

i fell in love with this game and purchased the collector's edition from amazon.com

since this is a review for that collector's edition i'll do a real quick review of the game:

graphics: 9/10 it's alittle choppy at distance but this is a newly launched MMO so yeah, but up close, the environments and the buildings are absolutely incredible. if you like dark and gritty and tired of WoW's colorful and gitty, this is where it's at. this game absolutely puts WoW to shame.

controls: 10/10 you can customize the interface on this game WITHOUT an add on or mod (goodbye Xperl!!) that on top of being able to FULLY customize the controls i don't know how you couldn't give this a 10

story: 10/10 not alot of people pay attention to the story but when and if you do, keep in mind that Warhammer has been around since 1983, they've got a HUGE story for all you story fans

gameplay: 9/10 PVE is just like WoW, but this game has something WoW can't do right: PVP and RVR, you have to truly experience this to know what it's like but basically once you reach the higher levels, you have to take down the head guy of the other faction and yes, lay siege to their stronghold. it's like can you take down Thrall or Tyrande Whisperwind? no, face it you can't, so what's the point in their existence, WAR put's you in their world and makes you feel like you're a part of something.

now on to the collector's edition:

this thing is bigger than it looks. it's close to 2ft long and 1 foot thick. it comes with a nice art book that is good sized and HARDCOVER. it also comes with a full color, full sized HARDCOVER graphic novel. the game itself is different from the regular edition (i own both). it comes in a thicker case, has different art on the discs and also has TONS of extra content, it's almost like a totally different game! you also get a minature of the greenskins leaders, unpainted, plus mine came broken :( but i kept it in the package so it should be fine. is the collector's edition worth it? yes. why? because of the extra content on the discs if not of the graphic novel and artbook.

It's WAAAAGtastic!5
Just got my CE today, and it's pretty awesome. Just a few minor issues:

1. One corner of the shrink wrap was torn, and a corner of the box had a slight amount of wear on it. Nothing major, though.

2. The miniature was broken. The package for the miniature looked like it had already been opened, and the arm was broken off. Nothing a little bit of crazy glue won't fix.

On to the good parts:

1. The game arrived very quickly. I'm currently deployment to Iraq, so I wasn't expecting to get it for a while. Amazon gave an estimated arrive date of 10/6. Guess what? It arrived on 10/6! That's exactly 1 week from the moment I ordered it. Pretty fantastic!

2. The CE box is HUGE. The pics on Amazon really doesn't do it justice. When you open it, the first thing you see are the two books. The graphic novel and the art book are both hardbound, and seem to be very excellent quality. Definitely worth the extra cash.

My box also had a number on it: 51777/66000. I'm assuming that there really were only 66000 CEs made world-wide. If so, then this is an amazing buy.

Warhammer Collectors and WAAAAGH!!!!5
Great game and follows the table top lore, and has a great deal of said lore available and yet to come.

Game play is defently fun, each class has a great mechanic to it, and each class has a mirror class.

The Game is an MMORPG So it's 15$ a month to play (After the first month) that means you will also get Content patches you don't have to buy, and the game is consistently patched to fix any bugs (as there will be)

THe Collectors edition comes with a 2 Books, a Miniature Greenskin hero for the table top (Unpainted Thankfully, it allows me to paint it as i want to mix into my greenskin army) and it comes in a nice cardboard box to protect it. it was heavier then expected, but the art book is amazing! totally worth a glance and great on my coffie table. The Comic book is also hard-bound and beautiful, with the different armies as stories.

It's got things for each person.

You can be a panzy High Elf on Order, Human and Dwarf.

As for Destruction you have the Destructive Greenskins, the Evil Dark Elfs, and the Chaos!

The in game items are fun, but not why i got it.

Well worth the extra 30$ and i would HIGHLY recommend This game t anyone who like Fantasy MMO's and PvP, Don't get me wrong, this game is not just PvP it's also got alot of PvE and it's got enough of both to make anyone happy.
