The Power of the Mind-Body Connection
Steven Gurgevich, Ph.D. specializes in mind-body medicine. As your guide, he leads you through a number of hypnosis sessions that are non-threatening and nurturing. Having someone in your life to encourage you is a very powerful force for change. Spending time reprogramming your thinking patterns helps to banish negativity so you can achieve the change you are seeking.
In the first session time is spent explaining how thoughts influence the body and how the body influences thoughts. Steven Gurgevich explores the dynamics of weight loss and explores how you can achieve your perfect weight. He gives insight into the origins of emotional eating and explains why diet beverages can actually cause you to gain weight.
In the second session acceptance and self control are encouraged and positive affirmations encourage new positive lifestyle choices. I love the part where you imagine you are going up stairs into a castle tower. I felt like he was reading my mind because for a long time I've had such a place to escape to and it brings a sense of comfort. In this tower, you sit in a chair and listen to a calming voice leading you to places where you can remove emotional obstacles and understand why you may choose certain foods for various reasons. This hypnosis sessions on this disk include: healthy habits, emotional barriers, self-love and acceptance, and self-control for cravings and temptations.
In sessions three there are various ideas that bring healing to your life. You may choose to spend more time enjoying the preparation of food or choose to step away from food and introduce other emotionally fulfilling activities in place of unconscious eating. I did think that the idea about throwing away food was not a good idea after dinner - instead freeze the leftovers and reheat the next day. This will allow you more time to exercise because you won't be spending so much time cooking. There is a morning motivation, before dinner hypnosis and a bedtime hypnosis.
Through listening to the three CDs, you can convince yourself that weight loss is a worthwhile achievement and you can start to reprogram your mind so your metabolism increases and your self-confidence is renewed.
If you prefer not to put yourself in a trance (it feels more like relaxing into words), you can just listen to the CDs while fully present and gain a sense of what it will take to make an ally of your subconscious. You can use positive affirmations and many of the ideas to establish healthier habits over time. A booklet is included with additional tips and techniques for lifestyle changes.

Beneficial to my weight loss program
I have been listening to the book for 11 days now and have lost 8 lbs. I am not exercising much (yet) other than parking further back in the lots and am not on any special diet plan other than eating whole, healthy foods, limiting dessert to 1 time per week and making sure I eat at least 3 times a day. I shoot for 3 small meals per day with snacks but have a hard time eating that often. Anyway...I listen to the book with headphones when I go to bed. It does have a wake up at the end, but it doesn't wake me once I am sleeping. When I wake in the morning I feel rested; I have found it amazingly easy to make healthy food choices and I credit this CD. I do recommend listing to hypnosis tapes daily when you first start.
I am enjoying the ride...
The nice thing about these CD's (3 in all) is that you don't have to do any work except find the time to listen. I feel myself carried into a trance state without much difficulty, perhaps because this happens in the safety of my own home. The first CD gives many tips on reaching your perfect weight. The second has four separate hypnosis sessions (like guided meditations). Each one addresses a different issue around weight issues - changing your taste for foods, finding your own, unique reasons for gaining weight in the first place, loving yourself and visualizing the cells of your body functioning the way you want them to, and craving control. The third and final CD is one you should use daily, with three separate sessions for morning, before dinner, and before sleep.
In addition to the focus on weight loss and gaining your perfect body, there is an emphasis on feeling good in general, which I like very much.
I would say that for me these CD's are proving effective. In the past five days I have lost three pounds without stress. I notice that I'm drinking my green drink more than once a day(very unusual for me) and just am less interested in food. Pretty impressive.
