Product Description
The PROlite (formally called PurpleLite) Travel Mat from Manduka is designed for high performance, but in a lightweight version that's great for taking on the road. It travels as easily to a nearby yoga class as it does to a yoga vacation retreat. Like all of our mats, the PurpleLite Travel Mat is designed for performance, longevity, and comfort. Its surface resists slipping when wet from perspiration, its firmness resists bunching and remains flat even when practicing on carpet or with sticky feet. Unlike most other mats, the PurpleLite Travel Mat has a specific top and bottom surface. These mats have been designed to last a lifetime (or two). The 85-inch PurpleLite Travel Mat is 24-inches wide by 85-inches long by 3/16-inch thick and weighs approximately 5 pounds.

Customer Reviews
awesome mat!
I love this mat. It's a perfect travel mat for me. I also have the thicker and heavier Manduka Black mat. This mat is alot easier to carry! I like the color too. My only suggestion for Manduka is to make a mat that is between 71" and 85". 71" is not quite as long as I like, but 85" is another 14". Why not something between 76"-80"?
Love it
The perfect yoga mat. It's just the right length and I don't slip. It's a little heavy, but well worth carrying it.
Overrated, but still a great mat
I got this mat because I was too cheap to buy the thicker black mat. I haven't tried the black mat, but it might provide more "bite." This mat works well, though. It is certainly far better than other mats I've used.
The key feature of this model is its length. Taller than 6', I was wearing out the corner patches in my previous mat. 85" gives me a lot of room to move around. In fact, even if you're not tall, the longer mat gives you the advantage of not having to reposition yourself as you transition between poses. Moving around a bit on the mat also minimizes wear and tear on this already durable mat.
I'm not sure why people talk about the mat's weight as a potential problem. It's a frickin' excercise mat. Stop griping about the effort to haul a yoga mat around.
What the weight means is that this mat is dense, because it is the same thickness as other brands' regular mats. This density gives this mat a superior, firm feel.
The jute/fabric layer in this mat is not in the center, unlike competing mats. It is near the top, instead, contributing to the firm feel and eliminating stretching of the mat during poses. Although covered by a plastic layer, it is this fabric layer that defines the texture of the top of the map. The plastic material used and the fabric's texture give this mat good grip. (Even if you don't think you need to, be sure to wash the mat when you first get it to clean off the manufacturing residue. Otherwise, you'll find the mat slightly slippery in tough poses.)
The way people talk about Manduka mats, I thought the purchase of this one would revolutionize my worldview. It didn't. But, it's a great mat. I wouldn't mess around with mats from any other vendor after owning this one.
