A must have march CD
I first enjoyed the music on this CD when it first came out on vinyl years ago and it has only gotten better in the CD format. The performance by the Berlin Phil and Van Karajan awesome. For anyone who enjoys marches this is a must have CD.
The quintessential interpertation the German and Austria march
The performaces that von Karajan and the Berlin give here is the best any one can exspect to find. I have listined to many differnt interpertaions of German and Austrin marches, and there is NO ONE that can interpert these marches like von Karajan. He brings out the heart and soul of the German (Prussian)and Austrian march. [...]
A Classic collection
I too listened to the vinyl version as a kid 20+ years ago and acquired the CD version recently. This is an excellent collection of marches, which date back to the 30 years war (the Finnish Cavalry march, a personal favorite), and 19th century marches written by famous band masters Piefke (Preussens Gloria and Konnigraetzer march), Fucik as well as more well known classical composers Beethoven (Yorcksher march) and Johann Strauss (Radetzky march). If you like marches, you will love these ones full of great tunes.
