Product Description

Voyages of the Lady Washington takes you back 200 years to the time of the Glory days as Square Rigged Tall Ships sailed the 7 seas. Built primarily of old-growth Douglas fir, this full scale replica is the largest fully square rigged sailing vessel on the west coast, where the passengers are encouraged to take part in the setting of 4,400 square feet of sail and stear the 112 foot, 170 ton ship.

See and hear the songs seamen sung hundreds of years ago, rough water and calm, sunsets, Bald Eagles, historic ships cannon fire, the setting of sail, and how the crew lived 200 years ago.

Editorial Reviews

From the Actor
This was fun to shoot and a neat video. It puts you right there on the deck during heavy seas with water crashing over the deck. We also shot several voyages in calm and on the wild and scenic Chehalis river. I must confess... we had to keep going back for more footage... and voyages.

One shot that we couldn't get because we were hanging on for dear life at the time, was right out of Hollywood... we we below deck when we crossed the bar at Westport Wa because it was raining... well the bar was real active... huge waves... and one of the ships sailor was sitting in a standard 4 legged wood chair, and as the ship up listed one way the chair and sailor would slide to the other side and the sailor would catch the ships bulkhead (wall) with is feet... he would then turn around and get ready for the downward list or roll. This went on for about 5 minutes. My crew and I were scrambling to get a camera up and running on a very slippery wet floor... falling and sliding all over the place. Oh well... we just added to the crew and passengers amusement... it was funney. That voyage left us walking funney for 10 days. My best time... was when I took a turn at crew 8pm to 4am and had horizontal rain blowing in my face at 2 am and trying to keep the ship on course in heavy seas 50 miles out in deep ocean off the rugged north Washington coast and not hit anything. Now remember... this is as exact replica as the coast guard would allow... we had no spot lights to see ahead. It was a real life experience of what sailing was like 200 years ago. I still go to visit her when she makes our port.
