Customer Reviews

Good for an advanced beginner5
I picked this up at my local christian book store after beginning acoustic guitar a few weeks ago. I am using Hal Leonard's Guitar Method (book 1) and wanted some other songs I enjoy to play for a challenge. Just for comparison - I'm maybe half way thru the first method book, and I find that I struggle with most all of the chords in this Praise and Worship book. I can do the fingerpicking slightly better - especially if I use the TAB notation below the notes (but I'd like to play the music without the tab notation).

Still, I am rating this a five - not because it is easy (it's not THAT easy - I clearly have alot of practice ahead) - but because it contains many choruses that I easily recognize - Christian songs that have existed for many years (20+). I compared this to the other series (25 Praise and Worship Favorites) that Hal Leonard is producing, and this seemed like a better deal for a beginner (45 songs) - plus it was cheaper. The other series contains (I believe) 5-6 books - but each book costs twice as much (retail) for each book.

Finally - just as a recommendation for beginners out there - I recently checked out from the local library "Fender Presents: Getting Started on Guitar - The First Step" on VHS, and I'm impressed enough that I plan on purchasing "Fender Presents: Getting Started on Acoustical Guitar - A Guide for Beginners" on DVD when I can afford it.
