Good concept
I purchased this for ambient noise to sleep by. I am a very light sleeper. I was looking for a machine that did not have lights and had "canned" noises.

The idea of the ability to use sound cards to increase the variety of choices really appealed to me. When I got my first unit, it did not work as promised and I exchanged it for another. The second one worked fine. The sound cards are kind of difficult to insert and I actually damaged the port trying to put one in. I was able to fix the port and got the sound cards to work.

I like the easy on/off switch in the front (the large silver bar). One I find the perfect volume, I never have to change it or try to find it again. The sound quality is pretty good as well. The unit is fairly small, but can rally project the sound.

Pros: compact, no lights, easy on/off, ability to expand sound choices, sound quality

Cons: difficult to insert sound cards, sound card port is easily damaged

Definitely Meets Expectations
The Sound Oasis Sound Therapy System is a great product for its price. Mine arrived without the stand, and it was sent to me immediately upon notifying the company. Excellent company service. Can run continuously or be set to turn itself off at various intervals. Sound quality is very good. I use it at night to go to sleep, and I like the sound of Rain the best. Great ocean sound, too. I would recommend this system to anyone not wanting to spend $100's.

Great when it works!
I purchased one of these and loved it so I purchased two more--one for my mother and sister. About a week later mine started malfunctioning. It would turn on by itself (sometimes in the middle of the night, which would wake me up), plus it would be playing a different sound than the one I had selected.

I contacted the supplier and returned it and received another one which is working (but I had to pay the $8 shipping cost). However, a week ago my mother called and her's is doing the same thing after about 45 days. Unfortunately, the 30-day return period is over from the supplier and now I will have to deal directly with the company that makes it (Sound Oasis). The problem is that the product manual indicates that information on the 1-Year Limited Warranty is shown on page 12 but the manual only has 10 pages in it.

Bottom line, of the four units I have ordered--two of them stopped working correctly. A sound machine that turns on in the middle of the night and wakes me up is not what I wanted. I'm very disappointed because this is a great product when it works--and I'm just trying to get one that keeps working.
