This is a classic. Perfect for short, sharp baby naming moments.

Tons of interesting names, most of which I would never consider when naming a baby, but at least I was able to work out what I wouldn't choose. This book is what I call a "surfing" read: you can flip back and forth through the chapters or pages, or stop in the middle of a page, and go and have a cup of coffee without disturbing your muse.

This baby name book is just right for an afternoon cup of tea. Every name has a related verse of scripture. You can just choose a few names to concentrate on and meditate upon. Very relaxing, thoughtful and inspiring - what a great idea for a book this was!

No way should this book be used to choose a baby name - it's far too funny! A great read for those of you who are feeling self-satisfyingly smug, having chosen your baby name, or for those who ain't got a clue and have just given up and want a good laugh... So - not a book for serious baby naming, I'm afraid, and I whizzed through it in about half an hour with a piece of chocolate cake.

I didn't find an awful lot of inspiration within the pages of this book. The info was very crammed together, which may have tested my patience a little. The section with names for every day of the year takes up almost a third of the book - and I didn't find this section very helpful.

Personable, informative, interesting - good choice of names and origins, as well as variants on a name. A book I use quite often for inspiration.

Lots of names and their variants, plus the name's number, astrological sign, birthstone, element and herb. There's plenty of information about each set of names - so it's a good read, as well as a baby-name-finder.

This is new on my bookshelf; there are lists of Hindu, Muslim and Sikh names - and I'm going to kick off my research into the world of these names with it.
