Product Description

Master the structure and function of the normal human brain and spinal cord with this state-of-the-art, beautifully illustrated atlas! This thoroughly updated new edition features more than 450 full-color photographs that demonstrate the gross, histologic, and imaging appearance of central nervous system anatomy. Readers will clearly understand how each structure functions as well as how it relates to other parts of the brain and spinal cord. * Features a unique collection of exclusively human material throughout the book. * Makes complex information easier to understand with summary boxes under each major heading… highlighting of clinical correlates…and better cross-referencing between the illustrations and text. * Organizes material into two parts: the first focusing on the morphology of the brain and spinal cord; the second on the functional relationships between these structures.

Customer Reviews

Fantastic. Review by former Physiology Fellow/Biochemist/Research Scientist5
This is a fantastic book and a bargain for the price. The photography is stunning. The choice of anatomical views and overall organization is superb. There is also a lot of histology content and it is well done. The same is true for the diagrams.

If you are taking a rigorous neuroanatomy class, this is a must have book. If you are not interested in this level of detail, it is still a great book to own at this price. I don't think you will find anything even close to this quality for the cost.

The book is mostly color plates; however, the descriptive text is useful and concise. I give this text my highest recommendation and have no reservations about it. It is good for advanced, intermediate and beginner level studies. In short, it is a highly accessible text even for psychologists and therapists who don't normally need this level of detail.

If you are a physician and what to show what is going on to a patient, this book is a perfect visual aid. However, the structures are real human brains, not diagrams. This may be a problem for some patients because there are also some very "visceral" cross sections through the head and skull that might be a lot for some people to handle.

Great book5
Every structure is depicted in multiple meaningful pictures. Nice short introductions and interesting embryology section. It definitely is a great value for the price. I used it in a neuroanatomy introductory class (graduate level) and I will keep this book for future reference.
