Trying to Rank U2 albums
By an Amazon.com customer
Achtung BabyAchtung Baby by U2
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $0.31
This is the result U2 dreaming it all up again. The result couldn't have been better.
The Joshua TreeThe Joshua Tree by U2
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $1.93
A classic. A very close second to AB.
PopPop by U2
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $0.49
This is generally considered U2's "techno" album. It has some electronic/industrial influence, but it is still the same U2 we have grown to love. I always liked it, but it took a few years to really appreciate the whole album. A truly underrated gem.
All That You Can't Leave BehindAll That You Can't Leave Behind by U2
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $0.27
This so-called "return to form" is a solid set of songs that has held up over time.
No Line On The HorizonNo Line On The Horizon by U2
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $6.33
I lean toward the group who call this their best since Achtung Baby. It doesn't quite rank with their very best, but it is one of their better albums.
The Unforgettable FireThe Unforgettable Fire by U2
Buy used from: $0.96
A very solid album. Some classic songs like Bad and Pride, and the entire album is good.
ZooropaZooropa by U2
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $1.36
Possibly their most experimental album. My only complaint is it is too short. Numb, Lemon and Stay make a three-song run that might be their best, and that is saying something. The Wanderer is a very good, unexpected way to close the album.
Passengers: Original Soundtracks 1Passengers: Original Soundtracks 1 by Brian Eno
Buy used from: $2.73
A very different U2 album. So different it was released under the pseudonym Passengers. Miss Sarajevo is the only track that sounds like a typical U2 song. Not a mainstream album, but very good if it's your taste.
BoyBoy by u2
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $6.95
A very strong debut album.
WarWar by U2
Buy used from: $0.25
Some all-time greats like "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "New Year's Day" and "40" but not a solid album outside of those three.
How to Dismantle an Atomic BombHow to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb by U2
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $0.88
A personal album for Bono, but some of the songs haven't stuck with me. It's an enjoyable listen, but not one of their best. Original of the Species is a very good, under-appreciated song.
OctoberOctober by u2
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $5.94
A pretty decent early album. The song "October" is the highlight.
Rattle and HumRattle and Hum by U2
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $1.29
Has some good tracks but a lot of fluff.
