As Derek prepares his case on behalf of seven young victims of an industrial polluter, his anxieties about his career and his torments over Maria's mixed messages only increase. Have his eccentric WASP superiors handed him a `toxic' case to ruin his chances of becoming a partner? How can he get his opponents to settle - an outcome the presiding judge all but demands - unless his unorthodox `expert witnesses' perform with enough gravitas to match that of the other side with its Harvard Medical School scientist? Will Nibble & Kuhn survive the partners' spectacularly bad business judgments? Does it even matter to Derek, given that his looming fiasco of a trial and his indiscretions with Maria seem set to sink any chance he ever had at partnership?

Ultimately, Derek sets into motion a line of inquiry that spins events entirely out of the control of the judge, jury, and any and all attorneys.

Legal farce and romantic comedy!
This book is a great look at how law and law firms really works through the eyes of an attorney who's been there! Totally different than the legal thriller - which I also devour - this book satirizes the legal profession, and does it well. I found everything believable about the office, the court, and even the now-taboo subject of office romance.

Enjoyable!!
....a thoroughly enjoyable read. David Schmahmann tells a great story, one that grabs you quickly and keeps you entertained and guessing. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down.

A lot of fun!!
A workplace romance. A young attorney seeking partnership at a dysfunctional corporate law firm struggling with a poor economy. A hopeless lawsuit dropped in the attorney's lap at the worst possible time. In Nibble & Kuhn, David Schmahmann somehow brings these three (it turns out related) stories to life and weaves a tale that grabs you early and won't let go until the surprising ending. The love story is beautifully told, the characters and events at the law firm are hilarious, and the trial scenes could only be told by one who has been there. This book is an easy read and a lot of fun. Highly recommended.
