Story Behind the Book

We believed that the best memories aren’t necessarily made of grand plans, vacation budgets or whole weekend outings. Indeed, the best memories are often made of delight in silly, simple things, and the most precious moments are just that – only moments: a hug, a tickling match, a pillow fight, a surprise stop for ice cream, or a detour from the ordinary to see the stars. This collection of ideas is meant to be just that – ideas. They may make you think of even better ways to create traditions, but these are places to start. May we all hold each other a little more closely and remember “home” a little more fondly because of ordinary days made holy by the sacrament of loving.

Gloria Gaither

Gloria Gaither is a many-faceted communicator—speaker, teacher, award-winning lyricist, recording artist, and performer. She is also the author of numerous books and magazine articles. She and her husband, Bill, also have their own magazine, Homecoming. Gloria and Bill are the parents of three grown children and the grandparents of five grandchildren.

Shirley Dobson

Shirley Dobson is chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force and a member of the Focus on the Family board of directors. An award-winning author of several books, Mrs. Dobson is recognized for her contributions to women’s concerns, Christian organizations, and the institution of the family. Shirley and James Dobson have two grown children.

Give your children beautiful memories that will last forever!
Love, love, LOVE this little book! Divided up into seasons (beginning with Spring), this little book is chock-full of wonderful ideas for creating new family traditions in your home that your kids will cherish for a lifetime and will draw your whole family closer together and closer to God. This book is well-written and full of great illustrations! It is deeply spiritual - Scripture verses are scattered throughout and there is an overall awareness of the Church calendar - without ever being preachy. It covers every possible "holiday" in all four seasons, including a few surprises like The Last Day of School and Grandparents' Day! My hands-down favorite is the Birthday Party for Jesus - a hit with my kids! Why not have a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas Day?!? What better way to teach children the REAL meaning of the season?!? A wonderful part of childhood is all the beautiful memories you have forever, and this book will help you create new and wonderful memories in your children's lives. Highly recommend!
