The Contours of the Female Part5
This is almost 400 pages of shots taken by a variety of photographers. Each photographer's face is shown on a page, with some brief biographical information. The preponderance of the photographs are of naked or partly clad models, most of whom are Caucasian. I have seen a number of these photographs in other venues, and some are by professionals well known in their field.

The thematic focus is upon the change that has occurred as a result of fashions that have required or encouraged the already existing trend towards pruning or entirely shaving pubic hair. There is a corresponding variety of styles, some quite creative, and more than a few involving jewelry. I do not know for a fact whether women have themselves pierced in various ways because they like the appearance, or whether there is some erotic advantage. In any case, it is certainly a good illustration of individual differences and preference.

Some of the photographs are close ups and focus on the shape and curves of the mound of Venus; most show the model in her entirety, or nearly so. If you find women's genitals beautiful, then you will likely love this book, as I did. If it makes you uncomfortable, then this would probably best be avoided, in preference for a collection that does not bring attention to the most feminine feature of women.

A beautiful book even if a bit small to do justice to many of the images4
This is a very beautiful book with some really nice, high quality images contained within. The size is a little disappointing, many of the really good images would be served so much better by a larger format. I'm not sure if I really like the title. It seems to reflect our whacko obsession with vaginas and the cosmetic treatment of. It may have been better served if it had been called `Focus on the [..]a beautiful part of womanhood'. Traditionally a lot of great (especially mainstream) images have not been all they could have been because of our Victorian era attitudes and keeping vaginas hidden from view when at times it would have been much more appropriate than models hands awkwardly places or props placed neatly in the frame to clutter the image.

This book has gone the other way and shows vaginas in images that may have been more naturally less `in ya face'. Still, it is a most beautiful and sacred part of a woman's sexuality so let's celebrate it and aim towards the balance between hiding it and looking for gratuitous ways of seeming to be `perving' on it (though for the half of us who don't have one of our own to study, learn and play with it's always a temptation). I enjoy this book and it has many quality images in it. Maybe this book's greatest value comes from it being representative of many photographer's work and style so anyone flicking through this can get a quick feel for people's work to decide who's work they'd like to pursue.

Probably not worth it2
Size of this book is too small for fine photography. Compounding the problem, many of the pictures were shot in very low resolution settings.
