By the looks of the cartoony cover art, Disney's Swashbuckling Sea Songs is meant to be a consolation prize for kid brothers and sisters who couldn't convince their parents they'd come away from "Pirates of the Caribbean" (name your installment) without developing nightmares. That's not to say that bigger kids won't whistle yo-ho-ho merrily after a casual listen, too: salty classics like "Blow the Man Down" set the mood for a plastic sword fight in the basement; "Pirates of the Black Tide" and "Stowaway" deliver mutinous tales made mild by friendly-sounding flutes and fiddles; "The Pirate King" sallies forth with regal, dramatic flair; and "Shiver Me Timbers" and "The Legend of Davy Jones" are sufficiently menacing-sounding to keep the whole thing afloat with kids who'd sooner walk the plank than be caught listening to a kiddie CD. The packagers didn't forget that any pirate worth his eye patch expects a little buried treasure with his purchase: Pirate lore--cool tidbits on flags, secret identities, and so forth--fill the liner notes. --Tammy La Gorce

Pirates
This CD should be titled "Great Pirate Music: Music Inspired By Pirates of the Caribbean", however that title was already taken. most of these songs mostly written by the team of Marco Marinangeli, Mike Himelstein & Dena Diamond whopture the spirit of the first two Pirate movies.
The studio singers do a great job singing these songs loike shanties of old. This CD may not be a great hit musically, but it is good music for the whole family can enjoy
Keep listening to this Disney CD... the New Pirates movies is in May, this CD will keep you in thralled until its released

Excellent CD!
I purchased this cd just in time for planning my son's 5th birthday pirate party. The first time I heard it I was a little skeptical about the pirate songs but with a few more tries I have to say it's become a family favorite! Some of the songs are just infectious--just listen to The First Mate is a Monkey, or Welcome to the Caribbean and try NOT to have them stuck in your head ALL DAY or NIGHT LONG!!
This is a terrific cd for the little pirates in your life and I'm telling you, try not to get caught up in it--it's impossible!
You won't be disappointed. I've never reviewed anything before but always read what others have to say so I hope this helps someone out!
It is so much fun!
I have a retail store in San Diego. When playing this CD in my store the customers either dance or sing the lyrics to this CD. I hear it all day long and still enjoy it as my favorite. Well done...
