Average customer review:
I've used the ancillary reader for some time. But I like that this books takes an "institutionalist" approach (but without ignoring other approaches) that covers not only concepts in comparative politics, but methods as well.

Product Description

The Essentials of Comparative Politics family—including a core textbook, reader, and casebook of country studies—is the most comprehensive, flexible, and affordable package for introductory courses. For this Second Edition, each book has been revised to best complement the others and updated to reflect recent developments.

This accessible introduction presents the core concepts that political scientists use to study and compare political systems, illustrating these concepts with concrete examples from specific political systems.

Customer Reviews

Excellent Source for Understanding Political Structures5
O'Neil has done a wonderful job highlighting the essence of different political structures throughout history and world politics. The strength of the book is in its ability to provide an overview of the origins of politcal theory and to explain the rise, fall and significance of various governmental forms.
