My choice for best history of the Spanish Civil War

Another excellent history.

And another along the same lines. Amazing how the left can reinterpret history with a straight face.

The International Brigades probably got the short straw, poor deluded politically correct fools that they were.... untrained, misled, executed by the Commissars when they stepped out of line, they took enormous casualties and were used up by the inept Republican military commanders

A bit more detailed than the book by Carlos Jurado but still more of an overview.

And after the victory - the Blue Division was a Spanish Volunteer Division that fought with distinction on the Eastern Front throughout WW2.

For those wanting to understand how Franco and Spain developed during his rule this is a great book.

There's a whole bunch of individual memoirs from the Spanish Civil War - I found this particularly readable.

Orwell needs no introduction. The man wasa great writer and this book is no exception.

Well worth reading.
