This 6-piece Irwin I-100 Auger Bit Set contains (1) each of the following sized auger bits: 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch, 1/2-inch, 5/8-inch, 3/4-inch, and 1-inch. Irwin's power drill auger bits single-spur design scribes the circumference of the hole first to leave a smoother finish. The coarse screw point on these auger bits provide fast boring in both soft and hard woods. The cutting edge is precision ground for long life. Each Irwin I-100 Auger Bit is heat treated the full length of the bit, which guards against bending bit in heavy-duty applications. The wide lands on these bits keeps bit straight as it bores through the hole. The solid center design provides extra rigidity while boring. The flutes are ground behind the lands of the I-100 bit, this is called Vortex Flute Geometry. This design funnels wood chips to the inside of the bit and away from the outside diameter. This yields a faster, cleaner cut. well worth the price
I have had several sets of auger bits that only lasted a few uses before becoming so dull they wouldn't drill at all. These bits are great. A little more expensive, but worth it if you use them a lot.
Does the Job!
I originally bought this auger bit assortment for a home repair project I needed to complete. They are tough, accurate, stay sharp pull out the wood chips they make and are not too expensive. Since the completion of that project they in all their sizes have been often used to enable me to make just the right sized bored hole in wood projects of various design. Highly recommended!
