Wonderful, but NOT FOR READING IN THE DARK
Yes, I know it clearly states there is no backlighting, but I just assumed (insert old joke about assuming here...) that computer stuff lights up. I specifically wanted this device so I could read in the dark without a light. I've tried every book lighting product there is, and none seem to work all that great. I was shocked and disappointed when the Kindle was no more visible in the dark than a piece of paper.

Oh well, that said... in every other way it is just fantastic. I love everything else about it. The book cover didn't stay on too well, but I fixed it with some velcro. Now it's great. I can't really add anything that the other hundreds of reviewers haven't said, but if I had read this review, I may have stuck with paper for awhile longer. But now that I have it, there is no way back.

My Kindle Review
Great product. I am thoroughly happy with my purchase. There are just a few things I wish were on there that are not. A backlight so I can read in the dark without attaching my booklight to it, a little clock somewhere on the screen all the time, longer battery life.

It was worth the wait!
I love my new Kindle! I am almost done reading my first book on it, Duma Key. The size of that book alone prevented me from buying it in print format and lugging it around - on my Kindle it was manageable! I am a frequent flyer and the Kindle has simplified my reading habits. No more leaving a book behind because you are almost done with it and don't want to carry 2 books for the trip. No more buying a full-priced book in the airport because you forgot to bring a book.

I keep my Kindle in my purse so I can take advantage of down time everyday. It is very convenient.

The reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is soley due to the design of the buttons. The first few times I started reading I was pressing buttons all over the place! Whoever designed this thing gave it absolutely no thought or testing. I hope the next version deals with that aspect.
