| Pure Land Buddhism, also called Shin Buddhism is the most widely practiced tradition of Buddhism in Asia and is the largest branch of Buddhism in Japan. It was also the first Buddhism brought to America by the Issei pioneers (first generation Japanese Americans) in the mid-19th century. Shin Buddhism takes itas name from Shinran, a 13th Century writer who revered Amida Buddha and invited all to share in the Great Compassion of the Pure Buddha Mind. | ||
