Review
I really loved the book and yes I read it in about 4 hours.. I cannot wait to read the sequel. --Linda Edwards

It has been too long before I made it clear to the world that I'd finish reading. I did so within a few hours. The last that I laughed outloud & saw the vivid imagery was of The Coldest Winter Ever. I am deeply inspired in a spider web of ways. You don't even know. I want to thank you for being a women amongst those whom are competitive, classify my status, etc. -willing to allow me to breath a spec of the air you are beginning to breathe. That says so much of you. Am I worthy?...we'll see how proud you'll be, if you is what you see in me!!!! --Egypt Hill

What plays out on the pages of YOUNGIN is anyone s guess. At first, I thought it was somewhat of a typical read, but there are unexpected plot twists, which engages the reader. Written in the third person, author Arlene Brathwaite has penned a street novel that seems all too realistic. She incorporates a bevy of various characters to create subplots to roll along with the overall drama of the story. If you re a fan of street fiction, YOUNGIN is not to be overlooked. About the Author
Arlene Brathwaite is the mother of five children, 3 of which were adopted, and she has 3 grandchildren. With the strength and fortitude that only a woman could have, she worked 3 jobs until she moved what was left of her family out of the ghetto. She has transformed her loss-pain into the will to expose the nightmares of street dreams. The nightmares hustlers seldom talk about. The nightmares that got two of the people she loved life bids in prison. My first book entitled Youngin was inspired by one of the many tragic events in my life that has led many teens to prison. This book was so real to me in more ways than one. I am currently in the process of publishing the sequel to Youngin entitled Ol Timer, which shows how an out-of-control teen can change, even within the confines of prison. In the near future, I will be publishing a romance novel entitled Soul Dancing, Butta Cutz, Devon and an autobiography entitled I ll take you there. In writing these books, I was able to showcase my versatility in three different genres (Urban Fiction, Romance, and Non Fiction), because I believe an author shouldn t pigeon hole him/her self. We should allow our inner selves to be free to express whatever needs to come to the surface.

The Fast Life5

Amazon Rating: 5 stars
APOOO Rating: 4.5 stars

Eighteen year-old Brian Moore is at a crossroads in his young life. He is all about getting money, no matter how he has to get it; from robberies to stick-ups, he will do anything and will not let anything or anyone stand in his way. From his baby mama drama, family drama and his boys, the streets seem to slowly suck him in. His fiancee, Sonia, is the only person in his life that brings about stability. Sonia wants more than the hood life and wants Brian to leave the streets alone. The question is what will Brian choose, the streets or his fiancee?

Arlene Braithwaite pens a novel that is not your typical street-lit novel. The story flows from the first page. I found that I could not put this book down. I literally read this book in one day. Ms. Braithwaite will have you quickly turning the pages to find out what happens next. You will be floored when it is all said and done. I thought this was an excellent novel and I look forward to reading more from this author. She definitely has her own unique writing style that I enjoyed reading.

Youngin'

When receiving this book for review, I was told by the publisher that once I'm done reading it, I will be calling him for Ol' Timer. I told him, we shall see, well I guess I ate my own words on that one, cause in fact I did call him and ask him when will I get Ol'Timer. I thought that this book is just gonna be another typical street lit. book out there. But, once again I under estimated myself on that one. Don't sleep on Youngin', cause the book has more twist and turn to the plot, it keeps you wondering whats going to happen next. Some people will consider this just your typical urban street lit., but to me its more like Realistic Fiction than anything.

Arlene did a phenomenal job breaking into the literary industry with Youngin'. She is able to showcase her versatility in her writing from Fiction, Urban Fiction, Romance and Non-Fiction. As and passionate avid reader, we tend to critique author's harder, especially when they branched out of their genre. However, a true writer in my opinion is capable to truly write any novel in any category, especially if they are a passionate writer. Arlene, has proved herself with this amazing book, which only took me 3 hours to read, I couldn't put it down from the beginning to the end.

Here's a little something for you, just in case you haven't read this book yet.

Yo, he's pulling up, "Jason spoke into his head-piece connected to his cell phone. Brian put his cigarette out and casually watched the smoke grey Lincoln Navigator pull up in front of the brownstone.

Jason, who was parked directly across the street, watched the 6'2, 250-pound black man step out of the truck. Big man looked up and down the dark street, like he was expecting someone to jump out of the shadows and rob him. The only person he saw was a young man sitting on the brownstone steps, wearing a Yankee baseball cap, talking on his cell phone. As he stepped away from his truck, he stopped in his tracks. He spotted Jason sitting in the black Lexus SUV.

Jason pretended not to notice him as he fiddled with the radio. His eyes widened when the man reached into his truck and pulled out a leather pouch. He unzipped it and slipped it in his trench.

Great Job on your first book Arlene, I truly can't wait to read the sequel. I'm sure its going to be off the chained!! I give this book a 9.5!!!
