About the Author
Susan J. Tweit is a popular writer, speaker, and radio commentator. She has worked as a field ecologist and a native plant landscaper and has contributed to Audubon and other magazines, as well as to newspapers. She is the author of seven other books including Barren, Wild, and Worthless: Living in the Chihuahuan Desert and Seasons of the Desert: A Naturalist’s Notebook. She teaches creative writing and natural history workshops around the country. She lives in Salida, Colorado, where she has created a public xeriscape garden.
