Buy Only If You Won't "Phone It In"5
I have been doing this video daily for the past 5 days. I am relatively new to exercise (at least in the past couple of years), and while I am overweight, I am not obese. I am not a weakling, but I don't have a gym membership, either. This information is so you know where I'm coming from and also so you understand that I have only done the Level 1 workout.

In short, Jillian bases her workout on a 3-2-1 principle: 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio, 1 minute of abs. There is a short warm-up, three 3-2-1 circuits, and a short stretch at the end, making the video a little more than 20 minutes.

Jillian says that if you're going to work out in 20 minutes, you can't "phone it in." She isn't kidding! I was really hurting after the first day of doing this. I was seriously sore, especially in my quads. I have done the workout every day since, and even though I still find the workout hard, I have a bit more endurance than I did the first day and am no longer sore. My muscles already feel generally stronger, and I am not flaking out on any of the exercises. I will probably keep with Level 1 for a couple of weeks more before moving up to Level 2, but I will decide that when I get there, I guess. Level 1 is tough enough for me right now.

Jillian starts out in the first circuit with what I think are the hardest cardio and strength moves, push-ups (ugh) and jumping jacks (I just hate them, I don't know why). I appreciate this because she gets the stuff I hate most out of the way in the beginning. Don't get me wrong; the rest is super hard but somehow mentally easier!

I don't have many complaints; unlike what some others have said, the music doesn't bother me, since I am too busy sweating to worry about it! The intro to Level 1 isn't that long, and I just skip past it since I've seen it once. The only complaint I have is that the timing of the moves does not necessarily correspond to the music, and a lot of the time Jillian is talking or demonstrating with Natalie or Anita rather than giving audio cues. This is tough when you are doing push-ups or abs and can't exactly look at the TV! For me, though, I go at what seems to be a reasonable pace and try to sneak glances to make sure I am keeping up with them on the video.

Generally, this is NOT for the faint of heart (literally and figuratively), and this video WILL work you HARD! If you've seen Jillian on The Biggest Loser, then you know that she doesn't fool around, and I can guarantee you won't hear any of that cheery banter most workout videos offer.

I will update as I go to add my insights on Level 2 and any results!

Feel the Burn!!!! 5
I have been through over a dozen workout DVDs that are geared towards weight loss and getting in shape. I have to say that this DVD is a must buy. Jillian stresses the importance of strength, weights, aerobic and ab workout in the DVD. This workout session with Jillian is hard, but as Jillian states in the DVD "if you want big results you have to work hard and earn them." You work out for 20 minutes straight... no water breaks or stopping to catch your breath. I have to admit my first work out with her I didn't think I was going to make it, but the 20 minutes goes by really fast and once you are finished you will feel such a sense of accomplishment.

There are 3 levels and she suggests you start with level 1 and work your way to level 3...I'm going to be on level 1 for a while. My goal is to have progressed to level 2 by Christmas. I have to say that I still feel the burn today while sitting at work, but it's a good feeling because I know that her workout really is going to give me BIG RESULTS!!! If you are looking for someone to motivate you and who will not let you take an easy way out than this is the DVD for you. If you are looking for a more sweet and fuzzy host, this isn't the DVD for you.
