1951 - The film where everyone won an Oscar but Brando. Strange, his presence on the screen still makes my heart skip a beat...Stanley Kowalski makes me nervous..in ways both pleasant and disconcerting.

1956 - Karl Malden battles for the heart and body of his child bride, Carroll Baker when a young rival arrives on the scene. This disturbing and confrontational look at a taboo tale of love and lust and the generation gap garned Director Elia Kazan a Golden Globe and actor Eli Wallach a BAFTA Award. Oddly enough, this one doesn't seem to get as much recognition as it should.

1959 - Taylor's character is being driven mad (persumably from keeping the secret about her cousin's homosexuality) and her overbearing aunt is trying to have her labotomized and committed. Williams' sister Rose was compelled to undergo a lobotomy at the instigation of their domineering mother.

1961 - This one plays like a tragic opera! Vivien Leigh as a fading screen queen who's husband dies on a trip to Rome finds herself caught up in an unexpected romance with a young Gigalo (Warren Beatty). Desperate for his affection she showers him with gifts and attention only to have her life cut short by a random psycho killer!

1964 - Richard Burton plays an alcoholic ex-minister turned tour guide south of the border. Sexual tension abounds when the tour guide leads a band of school teachers to a hotel owned by a sensual widow.

1973 - An overbearing matriarch out to advance her own ambitions regardless of the price her children have to pay...At last, Katherine Hepburn gets a chance to play a truely awful character. I HATED her so much...she nails the character of Amanda!
