That's right. The best comic book movie that's out (in my meager opinion) is NOT a superhero film...well not exactly. This superb movie version of Harvey Pekar's long-running comic perfectly captures the redundant nature of everyday life.

(Actually tied with Dark Knight).After four failed attempts (okay, five if you count the 1960's version) the Caped Crusader is FINALLY brought to life on screen with an unbeatable cast, amazingly dark/realistic settings and set-pieces, and a non-stop feeling of excitment and fun. In my opinion, this is the best superhero film to date!

Actually tied with Batman Begins. I'll admit I'm kinda in the minority as to not really liking this film. But, if you've ever read a Batman Story by Grant Morrison, Frank Miller and in some cases Jeff Loeb you'll already know that this film pulls (quiet faithfully) from these sources creating a VERY dark version of Batman's world.

Again, like Batman Begins and Dark Knight Spiderman 2 captures the trails and tribulations of being a superhero in a cynical world. Unlike the two Batman films, Spiderman 2 is one for all ages. The movie's colorful in perfect comic-book tone and adds neat (if a bit shallow) dimensions to it's characters. The special effects are amazing as well.

Another non-superhero comic. This excellent animated feature chronicles a woman's life from childhood to young-adult while growing up in Iran. Not only is it in perfect B&W, but the art style perfectly mimics the original comic-strips!
