Perfect for stocking stuffers, Gold Label's Matchbox Melodies music boxes create animated holiday scenes right in the palm of your hand. This "Jolly Old St. Nicholas" version features a charming cover image of Santa Claus with a quill writing the song words in lovely white script. Slide open the matchbox and the holiday tune plays as a miniature hand-painted Santa and his elves turn round and round, hard at work in their North Pole workshop. matchbox melody box
This is a nice little stocking stuffer for Christmas or a nice remembrance of the matchbox era. The music plays well and will be enjoyed for years to come. Nice little package and I liked the way it's opens up.

Cute stocking stuffer!
I got a few of these right after Christmas when they were around $7.00. They are cute and different as a stocking stuffer, but I wouldn't pay over $20.00 for one.

Cute Music Box - Recommended
The "Matchbox Melodies, Jolly Old St. Nicholas" music box is very cute and has a very pretty sound. We have several different styles of these, but this one is my favorite!

Winding the music box is accomplished by sliding the "matchbox" open to the left (gently... read the instructions) and turning the key. The motion and music are activated by sliding open the "matchbox" to the right. When open, the song plays (an abbreviated version) as the motion turns the scene. The figures are plastic, but are fairly detailed and look very nice.

The body of the "matchbox" case is also mostly plastic so I am not sure how durable it will be in the long run, but with gentle use it should hold up well.

Overall a good value and a nice addition to our collection. Recommended!
